I didn't read the other comments before now. Apparently we are in the minority, which honestly surprised me.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Even if you're really overexcited about sharing something with someone it's very possible to express that in a non-creepy way. The roommate could have said, "Oh hey, I was thinking of rewatching that. Would you like to watch it together?" Or "I love that series. What episode are you on? Tell me when you finish. I'd love to talk to with you about it."

But listening in on another person while they're doing their own thing is creepy to me. The OP also says "They even went as far" which tells me that this is one of many creepy things the person did.

I don't know. I guess I just expect people to be able to control or conduct themselves in a noninvasive fashion that isn't overbearing. I mean, we all make mistakes but there's a line, generally, and repeated unwanted behavior crosses that for me.

She probably just wanted to discuss or watch the show with you. Maybe she doesn't know anyone else who's into it and she got overtly excited when she saw you watching it?

However I guess if you don't like your roommate that would explain the not wanting to talk to her. Just watch it when she isn't around.

Here's what you do:

1) Wait until she's gone to watch an episode.
2) Get a new roommate when possible.

Don't let her ruin it for you. Good luck in dealing with a roommate you can't stand.

If she can't easily see what you're watching on TV, try hooking up a pair of headphones to it (you'll probably need an adapter and extension cable) - I used to do this in college so I could watch TV without bothering my roommate with the noise.

You kinda remind me of my friend and I when we found out about the Nostalgia Critic. I was interested and intrigued, my friend all out talked about nothing but his reviews. Thankfully we both have steered away from that site ever since.

I don't understand why finding her annoying would stop you from watching the show?

On one hand, I was watching GoT recently, and one of my housemates was watching the same episode as me with about a 15 min delay and I only realized this because I had paused the episode and heard her watching it through are admittedly thin walls.

On the other hand, I have known people who bombard you with the one fandom you have in common in a really frustrating way that kinda kills the fandom for you, just because it is all they ever talk about.

So I feel you OP. Maybe give it a bit of time and if you feel less gross about it, you can start watching it again.

Were you watching it in your room with the door firmly closed? Because if she is pressing her ear against the door to try to catch snippets of the episodes, yeah, that's weird, but otherwise tv is kinda a social thing in shared housing situations and I don't see anything wrong with her trying to interact with you over it.

My sympathy to you op. Surprised by the other comments cause I could immediately see the problem. Maybe because I've sort of been there? I got one my friends into reading a certain manga and it was fun to have someone to casually chat about but then it became her everything and all she wanted to talk about with me and that ruined it.

Okay I hate this too. Sometimes I just want to enjoy something by myself and don't want to have discussions about it with overly-enthusiastic people... This is why I don't usually tell my friends what I watch...
