Spoilers? Maybe?

I don't think she's a representation of fans. I think she's a representation of what the majority of fans WISH they could be. (Because seriously, sitting on tumblr 23 hours a day making half-speed gifs of "Destiel staring SO LONGINGLY AT EACH OTHER OMG IT'S OTP CANON" is not the same as being a brilliant hacker and charismatic geek.)

That said, I understand why people feel her character development was a little rushed, but I don't think it was bad. She has the first episode, where at the end, she decides she doesn't want anything to do with their lifestyle. She has the second one (the LARP one, yeah?), where she freaks out at first and realizes she's going to have to run AGAIN, and by the end of it, figures out that running isn't going to make anything go away, so she might as well suck it up and fight back. And in the interim between that episode and this last one, she's educated herself as best she can. Like any brave, intelligent person would do. As for Sam and Dean embracing her, well. I think they can tell she's not exactly a threat, and at this point I think they're happy for any support they can get, especially with Bobby dead, Sam in the gutter, etc. Plus Dean's always had that big brother desire to take care of people, and since he can't do anything for Sam right now (and he's trying, albeit struggling, to realize that Sam is an adult)

The thing with her mom, I can understand why some people don't like that either. But I dunno, I can imagine myself doing the same. My mom is a geek like me, and if she were in a coma I think she would want me to read to her too. And they made it sound like Charlie's visits were pretty rare? Since she said she visits "when she can".

I do agree that Felicia is playing a character like herself, but then, everything I've seen her in is that type of show anyway. My guess is that the writers are aware fans look up to her, so they figure she can represent the "geeks" in a positive light. I'd have to see her in a radically different environment to gauge her acting.

...I have a lot of feelings about this, apparently. Sorry. orz

I agree. I actually thought her character arc was surprisingly well done. Nervous and new in the first episode, more chill and coping by the second, and fully on board by the third. It's actually a lot more development and thought than a lot of guest or recurring characters get.

I also got the feeling that she had kept in touch between the second and third ep? Now that I think about it I guess they didn't mention it at all, but that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it.

The third episode was, imho, the weakest and most cliche. But I don't think it was out of character or out of the blue or awful in any way. Do I wish they went with a less cliche story than drunk drivers and mom-in-coma? Yes. But what they did do was executed well so I'm okay with it.

And if you've watched The Guild or other G&S productions you can actually see that while yeah, she plays "geek" a lot there are differences. For example I don't see much in common between her Guild character and this one other than the general label of "geek". But then, I'm a fan of the characters so I might not be as harsh as someone who's looking for negatives.

I dunno if her character development was rushed to me, so much as it's just off-screen and I was left wondering where some of that came from. I said in a comment above that her getting curious about all that goes bump in the night makes perfect sense, and she's got the skills to be of a real help to the Winchesters, and that's awesome. But as someone else mentioned, if there was some off-screen contact between Charlie and Sam or something, maybe they should have shown it? A little off-hand comment or maybe when they show Sam's inbox there could have been more correspondence between them, something.

As as for how S&D act, their willingness to have her tag along just seems weird to me. That episode with Krissy and that hunter shows that they still don't want civilians or kids getting into the "life". Their behaviour with her just odd in how accepting of it they are? That aspect just feels really forced to me I guess. I feel like I'm watching this episode of Torchwood I guess, like I skipped a bunch of episodes by mistake and I've no idea what's going on wait why are they friends who's that huh what

Though the secret saying that she's to represent the fans is ridiculous, I agree. And I remember liking Felicia when she was on Dollhouse now that I think of it, that character was wildly different from her geek roles though.
