I really want to like Euclase's stuff but I wish she'd just admit to using references. She keeps saying she does it from memory but when all of her fanart look JUST like photos you can find online down to the strands of hair... That's not from memory.
Mind, I have no issues with using reference ESPECIALLY when your style is as realistic as Euclase, I just wish she'd stop saying she didn't use them and admit "this is a painting I did of this photo".

I think she has said that she uses them as references. She deletes almost all of her text posts so I wouldn't be able to find it even if I tried, but she's legit, referencing isn't the same thing as tracing or people who just abuse photoshop filters.

Euclase is an amazing artist but I doubt the legitimacy of most of the stuff she's posted the last three years or so. She used to show WIPs and her works weren't exact copies of photos. Now everything matches EXACTLY to photos/stills, like she just ran them through a painting extension in photoshop. That wouldn't bother me if only she'd admit that's what she does.

I need to catch up on the episodes, but....the whole ~kawaii desu~ woobie crap the fandom is doing with those two and the vilifying of the female characters and Crawford are annoying the ever loving FUCK out of me.

I liked it when the fandom smaller and more about Hannibal/Clarice, however you saw them (couple, unlikely frienemies, what have you)....this is just creeping me out and not wanting to venture into it.

As for Hannibal, I find the show fascinating and have thought about looking for fanworks, but...I just have a feeling the fandom is going to be a huge letdown. IDK where to look other than tumblr, and when I check tumblr after the show it's mostly people talking about how attractive they find Mads.

good instincts. it's an artsy, critics' darling kinda show. fandoms for those are always letdowns.

fandom is at its best when dealing with source materials that could use some (or a lot of) fixing.

Tumblr is terrible for this show.

Honestly, if anyone wants decent discussion about the show (that isn't just discussing slash) I'd suggest checking out the /tv/ board on 4chan. They usually have pretty good talks and decent analyzations about it post ep(I know, I can't believe I'm recommending 4chan out of all things).

Plus they post up lots of lovely pictures of Mads too.

I'm actually going to agree with this. /tv/ is, on occasion, a great place for discussion of certain shows. Hannibal is one of them. Just ignore the rest of the bullshit, it's otherwise a very shitty board. I'd love to see some people from here join the fun of Hannibal threads. They're almost as fun as House threads were back in the day.

if it helps, the season is only 13 episodes long, so if you enjoyed the first 5 episodes, you've enjoyed almost half of it.

I'm I the only one who doesn't really like that artist's work? I mean, obv it's good to reference real life and do some copying now and then to see how colours behave for practice, but that's literally all she does. Her stuff just seems basic and kinda fishy to me.

i've heard she doesn't actually paint them from scratch, she just goes over the original photo with the smudge paint effect, there are loads of easy tutorials for it out there
