The "man and woman hate each other at the beginning of the movie, but are totally in love at the end".
I'd love to see:
-They hate at the beginning AND the end. And all the way through. And no angry sex.
or
-They like each other at the beginning.

So...you want a static movie with static characters where nothing happens or changes?

There's quite a range between "they hate each other at the beginning and are in love at the end" and something as boring as "they hate each other at the beginning and at the end". Who the fuck wants to watch a movie about that?

Perhaps they work together to defeat a common enemy, but at the end they agree to continue their bitter rivalry, but both have learned from each other and are better for it.

Also, for fenm's other example, the two characters could like each other but have several other obstacles to overcome before they can be together.

There are ways the characters could change that wouldn't involve them falling in love. I'm not talking about romance movie here.

where nothing happens

You now movie can be about more than just whether two people got together, right? So not wanting two people to fall in love =/= wants nothing to happen.

There's quite a range between "they hate each other at the beginning and are in love at the end" and something as boring as "they hate each other at the beginning and at the end"

Yes, you're right, there is. That's a fair point. The problem is, even that middle ground rarely happens. That's the problem. It's barely always "hate -> love", not "hate -> like" or "hate -> grudging respect".

Me? I think it'd be great. Enemies having to work together for whatever. Angry snark and trading insults, and while they work together for the sake of whatever, at the end they go their separate ways secure that yup, still can't stand that other person.

No shame in liking what you like, and knowing what works for you but damn you sound like you have very limited taste in everything to be calling anyone else's static tbh.

For the hate bit, you've got foe yay to work with.

For the mutual like bit, the work it takes to make a relationship work. And maybe the relationship itself isn't even the focus since it's no longer the bonus/prize to be sought at the end, so there could be different plot throughout without having to force sexual tension because that's just because.

Whaaa? How is that boring? People who hate each other all the time can be endlessly entertaining! It's when the murder attempts are replaced with buddy-buddy bullshit that things gets dull...not because they have to, but because a lot of writers don't seem to know how to be creative with functional relationships (especially romances).

Someone who is sick and tired of that damned story? I would love to see a movie where the boy and girl (or man and woman) who start out hating each other keep hating each other because their hate is real and true and genuine.

And hate-then-love strikes me as ridiculously unrealistic. I have never known any real life people who started out hating (I mean hate, here, not indifference or ambivalence) each other who then ended up falling in love.

"man and woman hate each other at the beginning of the movie, but are totally in love at the end".

I dislike this trope too and it's so prevalent it's frustrating. I want the two characters who fall in love to actually like each other beforehand.

Oh, holy fuck, this. I want more stories where characters spend a little time not knowing each other, and a lot of time getting to know each other and liking each other before being in love. In a lot of stories it's like flipping a love/hate coin. I twitch when a story centers on two characters who just can't stand each other when I can see their inevitable grand passion approaching from five minutes into the show/book/movie. Especially when they have legitimate reasons to dislike each other that get thrown away because they're having hot monkeysex now so the fact that they said/say nasty shit/do awful things doesn't matter.

I would really love a story where the two that end up in love actually like and are interested in each other at the start. That would be wonderful.

I would also totally be down for enemies having to work together or whatever plot and still ending up enemies and no sex at all.
