(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)As far as the language you're studying goes, have you tried watching raw movies/tv shows or finding songs, books, etc to practice your translation skills? Not the same as having a fandom to work with, but I know that watching TV and movies has always been extremely helpful to my listening comprehension when learning languages.

It you find a particular group or a few groups that you like, they might have a small fan following. Or you could also look and see if there are fandoms for English-language media in the language you're studying. It wouldn't be quite the same, but seeing English lyrics and what not translated into said language might be useful, too.
