It's the same with the Off fandom. It's like Homestucks just gave up and split into the two new factions.

That said, speaking as a Homestuck that likes these new things too...maybe try to separate the fandoms a bit. It is a bit like a scourge when Homestuck gets crossed over with literally everything that people in the fandom touch. :/ It's overexposure, you know? And the more it's around and the more it's unavoidable, the more people are going to lash back against it.

Off is a French horror game that's been gaining popularity lately. When I say "factions", I mean that Off and Dangit Grandpa seem to be the two fandoms that the majority of fans making a hiatus-exodus from Homestuck are flocking to.

It seems a lot of people in the DR fandom are just being shitty about a lot of things, and people have always liked to blame their problems on popular fandoms.

Before HS it was bleach fans, 'narutards, etc.

I'm sorry it's killing your motivation, but I think you'll find that there's a lot more people out there who love both things and will enjoy your work than there are vocal asshats waiting to jump on you.

I see people originally from the Off and Dangan Ronpa fandoms whining cause oh no these homestucks are joining the fandom. Like holy hell, you have cool canons. Why can't we be interested in them just cause we also read some webcomic. My decision to read Dangan Ronpa/play Off had nothing to do with me also reading Homestuck, so seriously lay off.

On the other hand there are also the whiners in the Homestuck fandom cause how dare people have other fandoms besides their main one. Listen, Homestuck is on hiatus for a bit, okay? For a lot of people that makes it a great time to check up on some canons they've been interested in for a while and now got the time to read. That doesn't mean they are abandoning Homestuck. And shit, even if they are, why do you care? Do you think Hussie is gonna look at tumblr and go 'oh no, fan #4332762 has turned to Off, I have suddenly lost the fuckin drive to finish this thing I have been working on for years'.

And no one has any problems with the people that just also happen to like Homestuck. That's no problem at all. It's when they start going on about quadrant shipping and "what if [character] was a troll" and trying to determine what everyone's aspect would be that it gets kind of unbelievably fucking annoying. Crossovers can be fun, but not everything needs to be Homestuck.

Not everything needs to be homestuck, but if these people are enjoying themselves, you don't get to tell them to stop. If they are telling you you need to ship them in quadrants or play them as trolls, that is dickish, but if they just want to play with the concept themselves, there is nothing the fuck wrong with it.

As long as you tag it homestuck so people who don't like it can block it, it's basically whatever. My only problem with those crossovers is how rarely people tag.
