I actually understand not liking your child. Not from personal experience, but from a certain inbred young tyrant named Joffrey Baratheon.

Psst. Wrong secret.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-06 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
ugh, Dyson.

I'm also not fond of the "Bo, Dyson has done all this stuff for you, you MUST LOVE HIM BACK" bullshit that the show is full of.

No. Fuck that.

[personal profile] atgdng 2013-05-07 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't used to care one way or another about Dyson. And then he went all, "I'll just wait for Lauren to die, and then Bo will just certainly fall into my arms!" and "I'll just invite myself along for your awakening and make it ALL ABOUT ME!" and HOLY SHIT I went from being completely indifferent to hating the shit out of him. He and Trick disgusted me this season.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Like...it's nice that he helps her out but that doesn't mean she OWES him her love, nor does the fact that he now has he back.

I was kinda pissed that they didn't do something more interesting like have Dyson fall in love with Kenzi in the end, which would have made sense after all she went through with him, and could have added some interesting tension to the show. Not that I'd particularly want that ship to sail, but it would have been a nice change from the Bo/Dyson saga.

Bo/Tamsin was vastly superior to any of Bo's relationships, imo. They were great together, and the nature of their relationship made it very engaging.

IA completely

I hate lauren and find her whiny and tedious, and actually rather like Dyson.

But man, right fucking on with the Bo/Tamsin stuff. Oh Em Gee, why'd she have to be evil? They could have been epic hot together.

I'm a little surprised that the OP thinks Bo/Dyson is the writers' endgame. I've only seen the first two seasons, but I got the definite impression that Bo/Lauren was where they were headed. Did things change that much in S3?

Personally I like Dyson (and I adore Dyson/Kenzi in a platonic big brother little sister kind of way). I'm not totally sure I like Bo and Dyson together, but...it doesn't help that I'm not much of a fan of Lauren. I know she's hugely popular but I'm just not seeing it I guess. Need a third option I think. Maybe this Tamsin character?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-06 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Without totally spoiling it, yes, S3 totally got heavy handed with Bo/Dyson 4evaz.

Tamsin has a shit ton of chemistry with Bo and I thought they were heading in that direction for a while until, you know, not.

Nah, I think the writers were (unfortunately) going Bo/Dyson from the beginning. They just broke 'em up in season two for teh dramas. I liked Dyson okay the first two seasons, but there was some serious character assassination in season three, just so you know.

And yes, Tamsin in the best option.

Also, no matter how much the new showrunner Emily Andras wants to pretend she's all over Bo/Lauren and play to the fans on that, fact is she is and always has been a huge (Bo/)Dyson fan. If Michelle Lovretta was still running the show, I'd be more willing to believe in Bo/Lauren endgame since she seems to be the only one who writes them well and with care. But with Emily, I'd say it's a sure shot Bo/Dyson will be endgame for the series. It was really heavy-handed in S3.

And the way it was expressed made me strongly dislike Dyson (who I did like as a character before) and Trick, who was just plain awful in S3. And Lauren was just written terribly from about the midway point onwards except, surprise surprise, in Lovretta's episode. It was not a strong backhalf of the season imo.

I don't care much for the Bo/Tamsin dynamic either. It was so random and just too convenient. (Gotta break Bo/Lauren up!) I'm not denying the actresses play well together, but as a legit pairing? I don't feel it at all. Never did.

This secret has reminded me to watch season 2. But now I'm a bit hesitant to...

(Anonymous) 2013-05-06 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I am just here to say Bo/Tamsin 4eva.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Not gonna lie, I'm a Lauren fangirl. And I live with a Dyson fangirl. We have a very tenuous treaty.

OMFG I HATE DYSON. He was cool when he was the police chief and a random screw and snarking with Hale but this whole woobie thing is effing ridiculous. Also he's absolutely useless. I mean I don't want him rescuing Bo, but he could at least kinda sorta contribute every once in a while. Also all the Lauren dating drama just showed up out of effing nowhere.

I stopped watching at the end of S2, because the amounts of Trick, Hale, Kenzi, and The Morrigan were not great enough to cancel out my boredom with the rest of the cast ( all of whom just ... started out interesting and then seemed to fall into same old same old.)

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, I've never seen the show and know little about it, but if someone were to tell me a show centered around a succubus, I would expect it to be male fantasy and not be offended when it was.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
For me, it started out more "female sexuality-empowered" than I expected it to be (meaning, there was more than zero) but ultimately it devolved into that tired old "Women with Unabashed Sex Drives are Bead Because Female Sexuality is a Dangerous Thing" blah blah blah ...

(Some of the minor characters/sidekicks were fun for a while.)

Yeah, I really wish they'd give up on Bo/Dyson. He's so possessive and dull. But I don't see how Lauren became "the worst"? They ruined Bo/Lauren in S3, but it left me with nothing but sympathy for Lauren. Idg the Bo/Tamsin love at all though.

omg I wanted her to end up with a woman so badly because hey, represent! But I love Dyson so I'm super conflicted! Then, here's Tamsin and I'm even more conflicted because holy fuck chemistry! She may be dark fae and she may be... well... We'll have to wait for the next season to see how all that pans out, but I think her dark-fae stuff just made for a really interesting dynamic and it was somehow more of an issue how old she is (and running out of juice).

That said, I find it hard to hate Dyson. I just wish he was a chick or something.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've tried with Dyson, I really have. Not because I care about him but because hating a main character makes a show less enjoyable, imo. And there are times when he's okay and I think 'good, we're getting back to early season 1 Dyson who was actually tolerable'. But after a few episodes, the writers make him horrible and I have to go back to disliking him again.

Whenever I made this comment prior to season 3, people always said it was because I was biased (Lauren is my favorite) but I freaking LOVE Tamsin and she's definitely skirting around romantic rival territory. So sorry guys, it's not that I love Lauren, it's that Dyson is just awful.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, it felt like Dyson/Bo/Lauren was the endgame for a bit, although that would be too optimistic, eh?

LAUREN became the worst in that relationship? Hardly.

Bo was TERRIBLE in that relationship as well. I couldn't believe the Bo that I saw on-screen. That was not the Bo I've come to know throughout the series. I know she's not all that experienced in relationships but she was the worst girlfriend. All the sneaking around and lying and making out with Tamsin and being generally dismissive, self-absorbed and unsupportive at every turn? (But Lauren's Big Terrible Secret of the Season was really bad as well.)

It was just really bad writing overall. The Lauren/Bo drama was ridiculous and came out of nowhere even tho at the beginning of the season it was being handled really well, and very much like a real relationship -- then it all brokedown for no reason & Tamsin suddenly fell in love with Bo and her Magic Vagina?? I agree it seemed to be for the purpose of making Bo/Lauren (and Bo and Lauren individually) look bad and Dyson (and Bo/Dyson) better in comparison.

Altho I did feel like Bo's Dawning was pointing towards Lauren being The One. (Even though she was in Dyson's body...) But the end of that episode spoiled all that and totally contradicted it. Unless Bo was still feeling the effect of her dream thing. I give up trying to figure out LG this season. It was a mess.
