I've been listening to Bad Reputation lately and while I mostly like it, I can't stand the end because when she start's screaming 'Not me' it just sounds like she's a child throwing a tantrum.

I'm astonished that I actually like that song.

Jason Mraz - I'm Yours

It feels so saccharine and everything about it just makes me want to punch the dude in the face.

The version they played on the radio for a while, that said like "we're one big family" or whatever pissed me off so much because that sounds stupid and the first version is so much better.

Weezer "No One Else". The tune itself is great but the lyrics are awful. Of course you can say the same for a lot of Weezer songs

Usually, songs don't just kinda irritate me, they make me RAAAAAAGE. There are too many of them to list though. Mostly "love" songs.

That Butterfly Kisses song; I freakin' hate it and it pisses me off when I hear it. Also, your body is a wonderland.

Oh god, I despise that song too; that's actually the first thing that came to mind when I saw this thread. That schmaltzy father-daughter bullshit just makes me RAGE.

Hadn't heard it, but read the lyrics just now. Holy saccharine mountains, Batman!

That One Direction song, "You Don't Know You're Beautiful"(?) makes me rage every time I hear it. And I have a two-hour commute in a car with no iPod jack, so I hear it A LOT.

It's all about a girl who's shy and insecure and that's all well and good, us shy girls need love too. But when it goes "That's what makes you beautiful" is where I'm like, no, fuck you. Because that implies that a woman who does know she's attractive and is confident in herself is not beautiful, and it perpetuates the idea that women should be delicate, demure little wallflowers, and the fact that it's sung by a fucking boy band makes it that much more enraging because I can't help thinking of all the impressionable young girls (god when did I get this old?) who are absorbing that message from boys that they look up to.

Why do people have to think in extremes? There's a difference between 'this is what makes YOU beautiful' and 'this is the only thing that makes anyone beautiful, ever.'

Like, you can tell someone that their blue eyes are beautiful without implying that only blue are beautiful.

i think it's at least somewhat because we do live in a culture that encourages people to treat others (especially women) like the sum of their parts, and it's kind of a knee-jerk reaction when you hear that one specific thing being romanticized in a love song

I think the only song of theirs I hate more than "What Makes You Beautiful" is "Little Things".

Oh jesus fucking christ, that song enrages me. I actually wonder if whoever wrote it actually has a clue as to what they're implying with it.

Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend" is basically glorified infidelity? Even though I'm someone who got broken up with because I was okay with an ex girlfriend cheating (after which probably tipped me off on me not being the romantic partner sort uh) I am angry on behalf of the girlfriend in this song.

Oh, and "Somebody That I Used to Know". It's annoyingly whiny. Why won't the dude voice stop being so entitled and jfc move on you god damn creep. Hey, lady voice, it's cool, but omg stop dwelling on it and just stab a pillow or something.

By "kinda piss you off" I take it you meant "GA;DFIGAH; FDUCK YOUM, SONG GDIU"

That's because "Somebody That I Used to Know" is actually making fun of the guy - and female response is, iirc, showing that he's being a dick [and because he can't let go and she's sick of it type-a-deal]

I know I know ~~and i uh find myself singing along with it whenever it starts playing uh~~ but the dude bit never fails to rile me up darn it >:U

Anything by Taylor Swift. Her voice is just grating.

Ditto that Beautiful song by One Direction.

And that 'Love You Like a Love Song' by.. Selena Gomez. It's just really annoying.

Any love song wherein the singer declares their undying love for someone else, and tells them they can`t live without them. I get that it`s supposed to be romantic, but to me it sounds creepy, desperate, and pathetic. Can`t live without your girl/boyfriend? Seriously? You don`t have family/friends/hobbies/goals in life? A purpose and/or beliefs that supercede your attachment to a single person? That`s fucking depressing.

Also, "Your Body is a Wonderland" because it sounds creepy as shit. Also anything by the Barenaked Ladies or the Stone Temple Pilots because I find the lead singers` voice grating.

To the first part: I heard Leann Rimes' 'How Do I Live Without You' the other day, for the first time in idk years? When I was younger I thought it was kind of sweet, but now it sounds quite desperate and/or borderline creepy. I find I react to other songs like that the same way, too.

Cher Lloyd's "Want U Back." It starts out calling the ex a loser, explaining that the singer dumped him to find someone cooler and is now feeling jealous that he's moving on. She even calls him and his new girl clowns! Sooo it's basically all emotionally abusive, jealous-possessive assholery to a peppy beat.

Oh, and that Jason Derulo song, "Whatcha Say" or whatever, due to him/the narrator blaming an infidelity on being "caught up in her lust when I don't really want no one else." Fucker.

Whatcha Say is one of those songs that I've had to listen to dozens of times due to how much they used to play it on the radio but I never actually listened to the lyrics and had no idea it was about infidelity. And now I look up the lyrics and it's like "Wow this dude totally cheated on his girlfriend"

SOMEONE LIKE YOU. I HAD A FAMILY MEMBER WHO PLAYED IT CONSTANTLY ON REPEAT AND IT MADE ME IRRATIONALLY HATE ADELE WHO SEEMS LIKE A LOVELY LADY OTHERWISE AND ARGH.
