Atomic Robo is amazing. One of the few comics series that I still bother with, because it's well worth bothering with! It's consistently fun and funny.

I especially recommend "The Shadow Out of Time," because it's got HP Lovecraft craziness in it.

And here's some Free Comic Book Day issues for a taster! http://www.atomic-robo.com/free-comics/

Ooh, I think "Shadow Out of Time" was the first one I read.

That's another great thing about Atomic Robo--you can pretty much just pick up any trade and go from there. There's continuity and all, and each individual trade tells an over-arcing story itself, but if, say, you just happened to find volume 3 in a bargain bin at a con, you won't be lost if you just start reading it.

Also, the free comics.
