That's why I stopped. I only go to fandom for the fic. That's it. Fandom's made up of nothing but killjoy's. Especially nowadays when everyone always complains about and criticizes everything.

It's like, gosh, can't you just shut up and watching the freakin' show without picking it apart and turning it over?

Well, where's the fun in that? Though I think fandom should be more conscientious about providing positive squee only spaces, and not sometimes forget that fandom is primarily meant to be fun and about love. Personally, I like critiquing my favourite fiction, and wank & drama, it's still pure escapism, but I know many others really don't.

I have a period of time in fandoms where I hate everything but then there's an awesome point where you come out in blissful nirvana of not giving a fuck and it's heavenly.

I generally solve this by cycling through fandoms really rapidly, usually not more than a year or so in each. I have some older, less stressful fandoms on slow burn in the background, and tend to only stay in my 'currently airing' fandoms up until the stress starts to outweigh the joy. Sometimes, a couple of years later once things have cooled down, I'll go back and add them onto the slow burn group, resharing old joy more quietly now that most of the excitement and tempers have died down.

Has the handy side-benefit of not getting me too stuck in headcanons and fanons, since I usually rewatch/read before going back and sometimes end up seeing things slightly differently in hindsight than I did at the time.
