Hugh Jackman still looks like Wolverine despite the height difference. Aside from the height, they are built the same and have the same look.

if we're being sticklers about canon appearances, a 1 foot difference isn't big to you? my point is that the movies already diverge a hell of a lot from comic appearances so that original argument of sticking to canon doesn't work

But the foot difference doesn't change his story. Changing the Black Widow from a slinky build to a bodybuilder build like She-Hulk would. Because her slinky appearance is one of her assets. She uses that look as a tool to fool the people she is spying on. Wolverine, on the other hand, does not do this. So, the height difference does not matter.

THIS. Jackman really is a good match looks-wise. I had way more issues with Wade Wilson in that universe.

Wade Wilson was perfect!

Deadpool, on the other hand...

Are we ever going to get the Deadpool movie we were promised?

Please, lie to me.

Yes. and it'll be brilliant.

Yes. It is being made right now with unlimited budget, Gail Simone and Priest have been tapped as creative consultants and Ryan has full character control. It... it'll be out in 2013, for Christmas! *hugs you and cries*

He wasn't even remotely funny...surely even pre-Deadpool Wade would be somewhat funny...

... our tastes are too incompatible on this issue to continue this conversation. I'm sorry.

Wolverine isn't in the MCU.

Also, I'm slightly amused at the fact that a male superhero was sexualized for the movie adaptation more than any of the female Marvel superheroes.

And now with Loki, male supervillian is the same deal.

my point is they're not sticking to canon anyway so why not change? tony is too short, bruce banner is too big, nick fury got a race makeover

the changes don't annoy me but the comics argument doesnt work here

The spirit of the characters has been translated very well though.

And Black Widow is first and foremost a spy. You want a Buff avenger, hope they bring in She-Hulk or Ms. Marvel (better odds on the later I think). Gamora probably won't count.

Edit: Hell, if Thor didn't fill the slot I'd say tap Modern Defenders and throw in Valkyrie. Though with Thor around that's likely not happening. And while I'd give it all my money, we aren't getting a modern defenders movie. The awesome adventure of Blaxploitation Cyborg and Bisexual Mythical viking won't be on the big screen anytime soon.

like i said i dont care. i'm not the op, i think scarjo looks good. your 'but canon!' argument made no sense to me tho because they've already changed enough to be significant. for an obvious example they could easily easily have found an actor that looks more like comics bruce but didn't, so they dont look like they care all that much

i like ruffalo but nerdy skinny canon bruce banner he ain't

Nick Fury did not get a race change over. There were two versions of him in the comics. And one of them was purposely made to look like Samuel L. Jackson.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Fury got a race makeover before Samuel L Jackson got the role, though.

Bruce Banner is too big?

Isn't Ruffalo, like, 5'8''? He's not big.

DA

big =/= tall, I believe anon is referring to body mass.

I admit I cringed a little watching the movie seeing him try to look smaller than he was in certain group scenes (it didn't work).

nick fury got a race makeover.

14 years ago, before the movies existed. Also, the Ultimates design has been used in nearly every other presentation of Nick Fury since then. All the Spider-Man cartoons, Wolverine and the X-Men, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, he's playable in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. While the design was based on Mr. Jackson, this is not a new "movie makeover" development.

So... congrats? Better late to the party than never showing up at all, I guess.

? The filming seemed to make him look short enough to me.

Yeah, if you watch the directors commentary on the first Xmen film, bryan singer specificall said that for atleast one group shot they had wolvering positioned so he wouldn't be towering over cyclops. So yeah, they did try and downplay the heigh thing
