Bootleg DVD sales boost the economy.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
And since they're cheaper, they also block any attempt of creating an actual market for legal sales (plus they don't pay tax, so the country doesn't earn anything either).

So what damages more the economy in the end?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
You won't get any argument about that from me. Just pointing out why a country might get picky about downloads (can get tracked by foreign bodies etc) and not give a crap about cheap disks (keeps internal cashflow going).

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, hailing from one of those places, there is still a market for the legal product. Enough of us don't want shit copies.

No, bootleg sales support criminals. And I don't mean "friendly" criminals--I mean Mafia-type criminals who murder, deal drugs, prostitution, maybe even kiddie porn. Wanna support sex slavery? Buy a bootleg.

Wow, that escalated quickly

Every time you read a pirated comic, God kills a kitten. Now you know.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of unwanted kittens in the world. I'm sure it's kinder to have God euthanize them.

Whatever turns you on, anon. I'm sure your fanfiction of this is fapworthy to you, and a few others too.

So what you're saying is that the time they spend bootlegging DVDs is time they're not spending selling people into sex slavery, so we should buy more bootleg DVDs.
