I admit to a fair amount of surprise at the number of people around here who apparently have never seen/heard of them. *shrugs* You learn something new every day...

Anyway, OP, I'm sorry you had to go through that! I tend to be very cautious about ardent nerds of any material - though especially manga and anime, they seem most prone to this - for reasons very much like that.

(It's all well and good to be proud of your fandom and/or sexuality, but that doesn't mean fans should be taking that as an excuse to drop all common decency!)

I know form personal experience that getting back to something you loved can be difficult after a bad fandom experience, but I do hope one day you can enjoy yaoi again without it being tarnished by your experiences with the fandom/com. *hugs*
