[ FS Anon Meme ]

F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

etiquette here?

I know we have Rule 1 which says you don't have to go anon, but what do you feel about people who comment signed in on anon memes? Bad etiquette? Don't care?

I find it vaguely attention seeking

Attention-seekers. Unless they want to clarify something that is said about them which they would have to do signed-in, so that they wouldn't be take for an impersonator.

I am lazy and hate having to sign out or choose "more options" go go anon, but I do go anon for fear that I'll stand out too much and come across as attention seeking. Which is not what I want.

Yes this. I wish I could reply signed in without paranoia surrounding me.

Mmm-hmm. I actually deleted a couple posts I'd made signed in, because I'd thought this was GC. (My fault for having this and the actual entry open at once, I suppose.)

LOL I almost confused this with GC because I do this too!

:( Me too. I was looking forward to this post but the extra effort is making me not want to comment. I'm lazy.

this is why I have google chrome and can use their option to sign on seperate browser windows as a 'new user'. I can fire it up and be anon all I like while still staying signed in for main fannish activities in another browser window.

Some of them might have accidentally stayed logged in - I just almost posted from my account.

I mostly comment logged in, because I am to lazy to log myself out. Therefore I don't think badly of people who do it as well. (It never even occured to me that people would think of it as "attention-seeking"/"Bad etiquette", I feel vaguely self-consious now.)

I usually find it attention-seeking, but for some reason, only from non-anons with icons. Non-anons without an icon (like you) still register to me as "anon" in a sense. I've no idea why.

i know what you mean; it's easier to remember a logged-in user by their icon

and somehow it's harder to notice the username without an icon vov

Attention-seeking. Moreso if they're regulars.

Re: etiquette here?

I like them better than anons, because I like knowing who I'm talking to.

Also, the attitude of most anon memes--"logged in users are attention seeking/don't respect the atmosphere/are such n00bs LOL"--is really childish and annoying, so it always makes me happy when logged in users pop up. :)

I just assume they have balls of motherfucking steel.

I find it annoying because this is an ANON meme, not GC. It's like showing up to a masked ball but deciding you're above wearing a mask.

This. It's nice not seeing the redcoloured names gathering and supporting each other on everything. Even the ones I like, it's just nice to have everyone on the same level for once and working their way from there. I don't have to go "ah shit it's that stupid fucker" or "oh hay they're cool nice to see them" - I can just focus on whatever fandom thing we're chatting about

Ignore them

Re: etiquette here?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-26 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
This thread is why I logged out. I'd never seen it as awful to comment on an anon thing un-anon before.

I hate it. I also hate it when people post in kink memes unanon. I know the rules/customs on that vary per meme, and in some of them nearly everyone posts unanon, but it still bothers me because the thing I like about them is the even playing field and they undermine that principle. Also it screws up the page aesthetically.

I'm totally fine with people linking to their finished fics/wips, I understand that people eventually want to de-anon and post stuff to their journal/AO3. Even then it makes me happy when they do it in an anon comment, though.
