F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

All I have on you're first point is that being annoyed is not the same as offended. I expect people do not react to Noodly in the same way or to the same degree that they react to, say, Jeremy Clarkson.

Also, to your second point:

Lazy humour is never an equal-opportunities offender
1. that's a massive generalization, and therefor probably untrue.
2. Says who? It is my experience (Given that humor is subjective) that people are inherently geared to see jokes targeting themselves as offensive while all other jokes get a pass, and they're much more likley to consider a joke in terms of 'How does it relate to me' rather than, 'Who is the joke aimed at'.

Case in point, the mastectomy joke Noodly made the other day. Now someone suggested that the joke was not mean to be 'Angelina Jolie is having her boobs removed isn't that hilarious' and more 'How pathetic are the people who consider her choice to have a mastectomy some kind of national tragedy' but most people immediately assumed that women were the victims of a sexist joke. Maybe they were, maybe not, but only 1 person considered an alternative interpretation of the joke.

So when you say "Lazy humour is never an equal-opportunities offender" are you sure you're not being lazy in your viewing of the joke? Are you SURE that maybe there are offensive jokes that target people you dont even consider?

You said a lot of things and none of them were smart. Seriously? A "you just dun get it" excuse is the best you've got?

That's not what I was getting at at all.
I suspect you typed up your response without engagin your brain.
Or maybe you did. Maybe you engaged your brain just enough to come up with an easy strawman version of my point, then engaged your brain just a little bit further so you could set that point aflame.

You did just enough thinking so you wouldn't have to think seriously that you might have a set way of viewing the world, and that sometimes that way of viewing the world may be wrong, or not a complete view.

You did the bare minimum of an argument because you don't WANT to argue. You don't want discourse, you're not willing to face a veiw point that is not your own. You want to be seen to be smart enough to have a debate, but in a way that means you will always be right in your own eyes, and will never have to face the alternative.

Or again, maybe you just didn't sit down and think about my point before you posted.

Ah, the trouble with anon threads.

I'm the anon who made the two numbered points above about why being a shithead to lots of people neither ameliorates the public nuisance of lazy humour, nor does it in any way level the playing field.

I am not, however, the anon to whom you are currently replying. You're right in one sense - I chose not to continue the conversation. (Though I did it by not responding at all, because I didn't follow your argument and then had to go do a thing.) Unfortunately by jumping into the thread and then back out of it, I've made multiple anons look like they're all me. They're not.
