I'm a woman and my ring fingers are longer than my indexes (which I just noticed now that I read your secret). Thoughts, OP? xD

(On a serious note, I do have PCOS, which as far as I know is linked to higher than average levels of some hormones like testosterone. Interesting, huh.)

I have PCOS and my ring fingers are (a lot) smaller than my index fingers.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-26 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
SA: Yeah, I just meant it as a funny coincidence/trivia that amused me. Especially since I don't have any of the visual symptoms of PCOS.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-26 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have PCOS and I have a slightly longer ring finger (and am female).

TBH I think this kind of variation just really, really common among human beings. Like having a second toe that's slightly longer than the big toe. It happens.

I don't have any hormone-related issues (as far as I know), but I do have longer ring fingers. I just chalked that up to me inheriting my mothers' hands down to the last detail (including shape and direction of each finger), and she just happens to have longer ring fingers.

I have slightly longer ring fingers than my indexes,
but I don't have any hormone issues that I know of.

I have been told by many people that I fit under the both of the extremes of "feminine" and "masculine" at the same time, though.
So take that as you will.

One of my hands has a ring finger longer than my index finger, and the other has the opposite. My favorite color is pink, my voice is extremely high-pitched, but nearly everyone I've met tells me that I act like a boy (usually in a way that insinuates that I'll never get a husband). So who knows?

Might want to read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digit_ratio read this one for cites and how hormones impact development

I thought everyone's ring fingers were longer than their indexes. Of course this thread has also proved that assumption wrong, but I seriously doubt it has much to do with hormones.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-27 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
You'd be wrong about that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digit_ratio read this one for cites and how hormones impact development

google women with longer ring finger lesbian also

Women w/longer ring finger more likely to be lesbian

(Anonymous) 2013-05-27 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
The women w/that are more likely to be lesbian.

ok we get it, spammy mcspammer. thanks for the constant insistence on googling that

you obviously REALLY want people to accept some guardian interpretation of a scientific study as fact as well as wikipedia article (altho it could be accurate it isn't detailed or persuasive enough imo)?

some of us are actual scientists

and are suspicious of people equating causality with correlation, esp in small representative samples among many other factors

My ring finger is a lot longer than my index and I've had my testosterone checked (for other reasons! ) it's completely normal.
