Whenever I say human I have to catch myself to make sure I'm not saying hu-mon.

On the list of dumb things to whinge about, people using female has to be somewhere near the top.

Surely you have significantly better things to do with your time than worrying because omg dats a ~~scientific term~ they're dehumanising me, they would never use the term male!!

Wait....how is female dehumanizing?

Man, have you even heard some of the stupid-ass things people whine about? This wouldn't even crack my top 100.

(I don't really care if people use it, but to me "female" has definite Animal Planet vibes, and whenever someone says it, I imagine them as one of those calm, deep narrators commenting on the female's behavior in her natural habitat.)

I was always taught to say female when I learned English because woman is socially derogatory.

This is one of the things that really annoy me too. I always thought it was because I am not a native English speaker and in my language the word for "female" is only applicable to animals.
