Jar Jar is much more awkward and ridiculous. And I think he plays a much, much, MUCH more prominent role in Phantom Menace than Chewbacca does in any of the original movies. I mean, Chewie is mostly just a big hairy guy in the background - he's there, but he's distinctly a side character. Whereas Jar Jar is pretty significant to the plot of Phantom Menace and has a lot more business.

Aw, I see. Yes, I think it could be a major problem if Chewbacca was the central character of, say, Return of the Jedi. It would probably make the series somewhat idiotic, if in a good way.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I would enjoy the hell out of Chewie killing Palpatine in Jedi, but it would be kind of dumb.
