I'm 24 and I can't drive. I went through lessons when I was 16 and discovered that my attention span on the road is shit. If people ask me why I don't drive, I honestly tell them that putting me on the road is going to get someone killed.

It's not a universal skill set that everybody innately has.

I'm similar only it's more the anxiety factor. I worry that, "omg I'm going to hit someone and have to live with that forever. I can't do this."

I'm at peace with my decision to never get my license. I simply don't want the responsibility of being in charge of what is potentially a lethal weapon no matter how much more convenient it would be if I could drive. I'm a woman and am in my early 40's. I was last behind the wheel of a car for driving practice when I was 23.

Have lived in a major city for the past 20 years with pretty good transit and I've other people in my life who do drive. I'm a remarkably calm passenger. Go figure. :D

Yeah, exactly this (I'm twenty-six) - I wouldn't be good enough at multitasking between keeping an eye on the speed, and on the road, and also controlling everything. And I'm lucky enough that I live in a city with good -- okay, functional - public transport, and the two cities I'd happily live in aren't very car-friendly, so it's honestly not a big deal for me.
