In fandom terms, I'm pretty old. I've had 16 years under my belt and that is AFTER I turned 18.. and I can vouch that when you are young, you make mistakes. It's all apart of being young and the Sirius and Remus relationship is a study in that. If you look at ALL of the maurauders, they were right little buggers.. Remus including and I actually despise how the fandom makes them out to be 'above reproach'.

That being said, I find the dynamic realistic and the majority of fic writers that put out materials for this headcanon usually have a great grasp on the characters, on all the regrets and stuff that goes into the Sirius/Remus pairing.

Though I will maintain, one will like what they will like and nothing can change it.. I'm merely just sharing the views of someone who probably is nearing up in age with how old Sirius and Remus were in PoA and explaining why sometimes what we feel as teenagers can be somewhat irrational and not as benign or benevolent.

Ahahahahahahahahaha. Sorry, that was entirely spontaneous.

Oh, when I was a teen in fandom I totally thought "MWPP" walked on water. Then after DH I realized the entire point of their backstory was how screwed up they are. Which doesn't make them any less interesting - it actually makes them more interesting in terms of dynamics and character development. But they probably weren't wonderful martyrs who told hilarious jokes all the time.

I find the fanfic to be terrible for these two. Usually, Sirius is either: a) drama queen, b) gay hairstylist stereotype, c) hyperactive 5 year old, d) uber dark depressed angsty rebel etc. Sirius in canon was more like a rich douchebag who loved to dick around and test the limits and hated his bigoted family. Remus in fanfict is often: witty/sarcastic jazz-loving, blazer-wearing, philosophical "soul" of the Marauders. When Remus in canon was: stressed as fuck by being a werewolf, excited about being accepted by James and Sirius, and rarely had the guts to stop them from being dicks, let alone make witty banter with them.
