Meh, as long as they're not tagging their hate or broadcasting it to the world, I don't see the harm.

Some people just need to vent, you know?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I think context would help here. Is it just venting, or is it saying things that aren't okay, no matter how irksome those fandom people may be? Is it quoting flocked LJ entries? Because stuff like that is definitely hypocritical.

If this is the fandom I'm thinking of, then the person has a blog where they reblog all the "useless" junk that they think is clogging up the tag, essentially broadcasting blogs that they think are junking up the fandom. Some of what they reblog doesn't make any sense (because it is relevant and belongs in the tag), and multiple people have called them out on it.

Well, you can easily avoid reading if they're using a separate account for that? Better than having them clutter their main account with it. And bitching about annoying stuff can be very cathartic.

This.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
how is this bitching taking place? Like is their separate account open and very easy to find, also for the people in question, or is it just a little sideblog that you'd need to be given the url to to even find it? Is he tagging his hate? When he complains is it stuff like 'augh author x is using that damn cliche again' or stuff like 'augh author x is such a insert slur'?

Personally, if I feel like... if the blog is not really advertised around or extremely easy to find, and they are not tagging their hate so it shows up in the normal tags (assume this is tumblr) and he is not complaining about people in a derogatory fashion, eh... just let it go. Sometimes people just gotta vent for a moment so they don't actually blow up at the person in question.

(transcription inspired by secret number 4)

[image of an orange-red flower with white text overlaid]

One of my fandom friends has a separate account just to bitch about people that annoy them in the fandom.

I think it's just as petty as the stuff they're complaining about.

The hypocrisy is starting to annoy me.

Yeah, this transcription thing does get annoying real quick.

I don't know who you are, but I like you. :) I'm not blind, but still, thank you for doing this. You'll probably get a lot of flak for this, but please, keep at it! :)

Thanks for doing this. In addition to helping people who need to use screen readers, I find it useful because it saves me the trouble of opening a new tab to click the secret link in each comment thread to remember what the secret was about. You're awesome!

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, so they made an account to vent as opposed to sending in an anon secret.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
SNERK.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well now I really want to know who this person is.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
make a separate account to bitch at your friend's separate account

don't do it, when it comes out your friend will be upset

just, either wait it out or tell your friend

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It makes perfect sense to me, OP. Some people bitch on Twitter or on their public LJs. Personally, I don't think it's worth the potential drama that one little complaint may start. There are a lot of things that annoy me, but usually once I complain about them somewhere, I get over it and move on. It's never that big of a deal for me (if it was I would do something about it besides rant privately). I mean, at the end of the day, an online journal is just a diary you may or may not share with others. It's no big deal.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that's exactly why she has two accounts. She knows it's petty, but being if being petty is satisfying and an outlet for her anger, what exactly is the problem?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly.

If OP is annoyed by it I suggest they stop reading it.

Chances are they have that separate account because they recognize the pettiness too and want to keep it under wraps. People have to blow off steam somehow. You're posting to this comm, after all.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)

I agree it´s petty, but sometimes you just need to vent all the fandom things that piss you off but you can´t tell openly on your main blog because of the vengeful stans.

Whose hypocrisy is annoying you? Hers for taking to a secret journal to bitch, or yours for going to a secret community to secretly bitch about someone else's secret bitching?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
i think people forget that venting isn't an excuse for being an asshole, and just because something pisses you off in fandom, doesn't mean you're right.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-03 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think anyone forgets this, and no-one says you have to be right to be pissed off...
