But Starscream has always been a comedy relief character. He only ever gets to succeed so that it will be funnier when it all goes wrong.

Graham Norton and Chris Hardwick are probably my favourite interviewers ever. You've got nothing to fear admitting your love for it OP! At least i don't think so.

Background is a picture of Starscream, a Transformer

Text: I hate how he's been turned into barely more than comic relief.
So many of his scenes give me second hand embarrassment.
He isn't even my favorite character and I feel bad for him.

Ugh, is this show still on?
I stopped watching after the first half of season two when they axed Airachnid and Breakdown.

I really hated how Starscream was/is handled. Not because of his looks or behaviour, but because of how everybody else treats him, especially Megatron.
Sure, he's a real big asshole but the constant physical torture he had to endure made me sick after a while. It just stops being funny once it resembles an abusive relationship more than just "superior keeps his rebellious subordinate in check".

The hypermasculine appearance of TFP Megatron vs Starscream's "sexy" skinny frame isn't helping.

They were both back last Friday.

Let me guess: zombies?

Vampire zombies!

I feel you OP. I recently got back into watching this show after dropping it in the middle of season two and catching up with it just reminded me why I dropped it in the first place, this being one of the many reasons. At this point I'm watching because I feel like I should as a Transformers fan and because I know they show is ending soon anyway.

It's not like he couldn't be comedic and threatening, I mean just look at Animated Starscream. (I miss Animated so much.)

Who doesn't miss Animated?
I will forever be bitter that its third season was so rushed and all over the place because of the sudden cancellation of season 4.

Yeah, I...kinda liked this Starscream better when he was off doing his own things. He was still a bit of comic relief then but it worked better somehow.

Also where'd you find that image? That's a really cool picture.

OP with full pic used for the secret.

It's from Partners.

Here is the full image. He is facing Soundwave. http://i.imgur.com/lCxm9y8.png

I feel the same way. I miss Season One Starscream who at least got his karmic justice while maintaining a decent level of dignity. Starscream's ridden the failboat so hard that I have no damn clue why Megatron keeps him around outside of cheap plot justification. In the end, Starscream is self-destructive and Megatron is too much of a big, dumb shark to end him.

Megatron keeps him around because he knows all Decepticons (except maybe SOundwave) all plot something, and without Starscream that goes in every direction and really screws things up. With Starscream around all plots eventually end up moving in his direction so Megs just has to smack 'Scream around every so often to keep everyone else in order.

It is all Arcee's fault anyway. Hell they would have got Cybertron back at the end of S2 and Megatron would be dead now if she could have kept her temper in check.

Then he should kill Starscream. That would get one giant headache off his back, but no, cheap plot detects they keep him around and I say this as someone who likes Prime Starscream. I just hate what they did to his character.

Ooh, dang, sorry, I misread what you wrote.

...Well, honestly, the only Cons who ever disobeyed Megatron was Airachid and she was never a team player to begin with (and Megatron knew that, but being the idiot that he is, decided to keep her as his first lieutenant to keep an eye on her instead of just outright killing her) and Knock Out and he's too much of a lackadaisy to ever threaten Megatron. The majority have all shown upward signs of loyalty.

I wouldn't have such a huge problem of Megatron keeping his idiot Decepticons around if the plot found a better reason for them to exist in his presence. The show simply does not do that.

I can personally take him either way. I mean, I liked the Armada vibes they were starting to give off when he went neutral and even teased helping the autobots, because Armada!Starscream is my favorite rendition of the character, but I also think his comedic relief is REALLY funny and the animators just nail it every single time he is on the screen being an idiot.
