I blame the trailer. It did not do the movie any good service.

I haven't actually seen the movie so I can't say if I like it or not so I'm sorry I can't go in depth. But hey, OP, if you like it you can tell all the haters who haven't seen the movie to suck it. They have no room to talk.

I haven't seen it. And yet, somehow, I know that Jaden Smith will suck.

As one reviewer said: "Bad movies exist. Seeing this one is a choice."

Really? But you haven't seen him.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-09 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen him in other movies. He's burned me twice already. So I guess I already failed the "fool me twice, shame on me," but dammit, I won't get burned by him again. :P

Ah, then that's you making an educated guess on how his performance will or will not work for you, specifically, and I can get behind that. The whole movie itself though might be good and you wouldn't know unless you watched it. However, odds are in your favor that you won't because you have not liked his acting previously and he is a main character.

I've only seen him in The Pursuit of Happyness which he really wasn't the main character of. I didn't have any complaints but then again, there wasn't much of him and he was young.

Still, I dunno. It's kind of like a thin line, right? You have a valid reason for saying you probably won't like it. On the other hand, you haven't seen it so it's not like it's fact.

Now I'm irritated with myself. Aha~

You're right, it is a thin line. And, to be fair, I'd probably give it a try if the film were on Netflix, where my money isn't going directly to the film. I'm a lot less fussy then. But with what it costs these days to get into a movie, I'm very choosy and have high expectations of what I'll see in a movie theatre.

And, to be honest, aside from the movie in general, the nepotism involved in this project really sticks in my craw.

But if it ever ends up on Netflix and I like it, I will freely eat my words - but I don't expect I'll have to. ;)

Oh I know what it's like to be choosy. I rarely go see films in theaters now-a-days because it's just so darn expensive and it doesn't seem worth it. So I get you there.

I like your style, anon. Seems like a good way to deal with it to me.

You haven't seen the trailer? You're very lucky, then. I see/hear it every day at the Six Flags gift shop I work in, and I'm growing to loathe the trailer. It's really obnoxious, especially with that "fear is a choice" thing. How about "fear is a natural reaction, but overcoming it is a choice?" I may never see this movie because of overexposure to the trailer.

That line irrationally made me angry too. Because I see courage as action in the face of fear. I see lack of fear to be simply stupidity. (In the most basic, general sense.)
