I saw it when I was 8 on TV back in '95 and again when it was re-released in 1997 when I was 10 on VHS, I still love it til this day. I can't wait for dark_jedi from the OT forums to complete this preservation so that I could watch both the theatrical and '97 cuts the way I did when I was a kid.

As far as which Star Wars I saw in theaters and it wasn't the OT, it was

The Phantom Menace

in 1999. I still have all the nostalgia to Star Wars. :D

When I first saw Star Wars as a kid in the early 1990s, they were taped off tv onto VHS, commercials and all. And because of that I still have a LOT of fondness for the pre-97 Star Wars (my brother in law has bootleg dvds of those versions), any time I watch the OT, I still remember nostalgically where the commercial breaks go.
