(Anonymous) 2013-06-09 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)I once had a guy tell me (in not so many words) that you don't have a real appreciation for Star Wars unless you saw it in the theater in 1977 and happened to be a male between the ages of, say, 7 and 19 at the time. I guess pretty much everyone I know who likes Star Wars doesn't appreciate it because we're all too young, too old, or too female! If people give you a hard time about it or tell you you saw it "too late" or something, you have my permission to side-eye them.

Screw that. I saw it in theaters as a kid, and I'm a woman and OMG WAS I EVER OBSESSED! I bet I had almost every single Star Wars toy ever made (I was a very spoiled child, heh). That guy is full of it... and he'd have been sooo jealous of all of my excellent toys! :p

Yeeeeah, that's special. My mom has talked about seeing it in theatres three times when it first came out. I suppose she's not a true fan because she's female? WTF.
