I think it'd be great if the end goal was for every female writer to reveal they are a woman when their work gets popular, just as a middle finger to everyone who liked it but would have complained if they'd known sooner.

Of course that's impossible to pull, but it'd be such great trolling.

I don't think she was ever really hidden--the JK Rowling kept things gender-neutral on the book covers, but anyone who wanted to actually know who the author was could easily find out she was a woman.

Or K. a. Applegate? And that book series is lauded as amazing, even now (well, at least among those of us who grew up with them) and that was mainly written by a woman, though later books she was more of a consultant. I think.
