I thought the trailer looked good, and I was looking forward to seeing the movie. I've heard a lot about people hating this movie, but I usually get it second hand and don't really see much of the hatedom myself. I'd read the other threads but I'm still planning on seeing it so I don't want to spoil myself. What's going on with this movie? Is it really that bad or is it just a loud hatedom?

I would guess it depends on what you're looking for. Without spoiling, I can say that Will Smith is largely stoic and restrained and in the background, with Jaden Smith carrying (or failing to carry, depending on your opinion) the movie on his own.

Ah. Hm, well, I've liked some of bb!Smith's work in the past, so while my high hopes for this movie have been brought down a bit they are not yet low.
