(Anonymous) 2013-06-10 11:26 am (UTC)(link)The first example that comes to my head is CSI Miami. The Ryan and Delko characters never earned a friendship in my mind or the deep level of trust that showed up in the last seasons. But it was clear the actors liked each other and the production liked the actors -- it was like they were divorced from their own storyline because there was so much actor-bleed into the characters after such a long run. The characters could have been friends but they never actually developed the storyline.
Also, I've seen where the production simply adores a certain actor and are blinded in a lot of ways by the failings of the actor or the character the actor is playing. I just find that sometimes the buddy/buddy nature of some sets can affect the product negatively. I like when actors get along but I prefer when I learn things are just really professional behind the scenes.
