Pettiness aside, how do you propose to weed out the multishippers? Make the members swear a blood oath or something?

I was wondering the same thing. There would have to be thorough background checks.

Make sure you bash every other ship, that usually makes multishippers walk away in disgust.

There are a lot of people from one side of one of my fandoms who are multishippers who'd like to join the fandom for one specific ship, but that ship's fandom is so into tearing down other peoples' preferences that they mostly don't bother. Their official board bans saying anything about the rival ship that's even faintly positive, there are whole sections for tearing apart the rival ship, and bashing threads about the rival female character abound.
