I don't get it - you aren't a Twilight fan, but you checked to make sure that Bella's dress wasn't like your dress? Was there some concern that people were going to automatically assume you were a Twihard because your dress has sleeves or something??

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe OP knows a lot of rabid twilight fans who feel the need to shoehorn Twilight references into everything and would definitely make a thing of it were her dress to resemble Bella's.

Actually, somebody bringing up that sick pedo/stalker/abuser relationship at a wedding might be bad luck.

Actually, yeah.

It was the same with that royal wedding. You don't want to look like a trend jumper of the most inane sort for something you like on your own.

Do people notice that kind of thing enough to make a connection? All wedding dresses look alike to me (the general shape groups).

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh boy, do they ever! But do not ever tell a bride that her super-special one of a kind amazing-cakes dress looks like a variant of every other dress out there, and within a month, people aren't going to remember anything about it other than the fact that it was white. Or ecru. Or ivory. Or something.

Dressmakers actually produce imitations of popular wedding dresses (like those worn by Princess Di and Duchess Kate) because people ask for "something like the one that [person] had." I'm not specifically aware of this being done with movie wedding gowns, but given a popular enough movie with a memorable wedding scene and I'm sure it's happened.

As to whether any of the guests notice, I don't know...

(I'm a costumer/cosplayer, so I pay attention to these things, but would only notice if it was from a movie I've seen with costumes I liked enough to study.)

That's weird,it's just a dress a fictional chick wore.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know how old you are or how long it is until you get married, but even this long after the movie came out, I doubt anyone would have noticed.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
If anyone actually remembers the dress Bella wore and compared it to one in a wedding I'm attending...I would laugh, no joke.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you even planning on getting married? Or have a person in mind? Anything realistic like that?

I don't like Twilight but the dress looks lovely.

Why, did you think you were accidentally going to buy an exact replica of her dress? The likelihood of that is pretty slim, wouldn't you think?

I feel u OP/I get what u mean, I'd be pretty pissed to have my wedding dress compared to something I don't care for too

maybe its a little petty and wouldn't have actually happened irl but the thought is annoying and that's why this is a secret I imagine

Wow, that is really pretty. Because the ring was so heinous I think I just assumed the dress would be too.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I can see where that could get annoying...but 1. If someone insists on shoehorning Twilight into everything a different dress isn't going to stop them, and 2. That's. ..kinda silly to go out of uour way to care about/check out?

I'd call you paranoid, but Twilight is the reason I didn't name my daughter Isabella. I really wanted to. :(

I will never get brides' obsession with their dresses. You wear that shit one time (figuring you wouldn't wear the same dress to your second wedding) and it costs a shitload of money.
Is it really so important that your dress doesn't look too much like a dress of a character you don't like?

Plus, I can't see anything special in Bella's dress. It's just a pretty dress. There's nothing "extra" about it (like the dresses in Lord of the Rings for example, those would get recognized as being special designs).

I'd be happy to wear that Twilight dress... if I was allowed to marry in my country, that is.

Not a twilight fan, but I LOVE wedding dresses.(never gonna get married, I just love the dresses.) So I had to go see what it was going to look like. I didn't get why everyone was going so gaga over it. I thought it was kind of bland I really like the back, but everything else was kinda "meh" to me.

[Picture is Bella and Edward from the Twilight movie series. They are dressed in their wedding outfits, with side pictures showing close-ups of Bella's dress.]

I was so relieved that this was not my kind of wedding dress. Yes, yes, it is well made and has nice detailing. I'm not debating that, but it's not my preferred silhouette, sleeve length, neckline, shade of white etc. and that's a good thing. I'm not a Twilight fan and I wouldn't want anybody coming up to me at the wedding squeeing, "Love your dress! It's just like Bella's!"

Hi, Ho, 'Zilla, AWAY!

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The proper answer if something like that were to happen would be: "Oh, really? I had no idea."

And then you move on.

lol I played Bella's Lullaby as part of the seating music mix for my wedding. Exactly one person noticed/cared.
