[Picture is a screencap ot TV show "Being Human", with Annie holding Mitchell's face close to hers.]

I cried so hard when George killed Mitchell. I still cry about it And I watched it ages ago. The part that broke my heart the most was Annie and Mitchell's goodbye. It was too short.

... suddenly kind of glad I never really got into this show. :/

I've considered watching this show, and now I'm intrigued. Anyone care to spoil me for what's happening in this scene?

Annie was a ghost, Mitchell was a vampire, and George was a werewolf. They lived together and tried to have normal lives--girlfriends, boyfriends, jobs, friends, etc. But because of their supernatural nature, "being human" was very difficult.

This scene is basically how they wrote out two of the main characters. (Mitchell is Aidan Turner, aka "Hot Dark-Haired Dwarf" in The Hobbit. I can never remember if he's Fili or Kili.)

There was one more season after the season this scene is from. It...wasn't very good. It was kind of whackadoo, really. Had some great guest stars, though.

Ah, thanks!

So the werewolf kills the vampire?

Yup yup. Not in anger, though.

Actually, there were two more seasons after that one, but the 5th and final season/series hasn't aired in the States yet. It comes out on DVD in the States in...August, I believe?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-19 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, BBCA isn't airing it? I thought it was taking a while. (Granted, I haven't gone looking either; I'd watch out of loyalty, but without any of the original trio, there doesn't seem to be much point.)

I think they're going to air it sometime in July?

You're right--I was thinking the new girl came right after the original cast left, but we did have a season of new werewolf, new vampire and Annie, didn't we?

Well, to be fair, Alex was in series 4 but she didn't become a regular until series 5 after Annie left.

I'm in the middle of watching it right now and it really is a fantastic show. I highly recommend checking it out!

Other people have already summed it up enough but if you do try it, know that 3/4 main cast members leave between the season three finale (which that pic is from) and the second episode of season 4. One cast member remains throughout the 4th season as they bring in new cast members but that person is gone by season 5.

I watched all 5 seasons (bought the DVD imports so I could see season 5, as it still hasn't made it to the US yet) and enjoyed them all. I loved the original cast (SO MUCH) but I also really liked all of the new characters.

I was never on board HMS Annie/Mitchell, so maybe that colours my feelings, but the scene we got felt like it got tacked on and ended up feeling really, idk, intrusive and rushed. They wrote a really great scene farewelling Mitchell, realised they had to get Annie in there somewhere, and just tacked her in. It's a fantastic scene - probably the best of S3 - but I would've founded it even better and more emotional if they had either woven Annie into it more so it didn't feel like "here's a 30 second scene of Annie saying goodbye" OR just kept the scene between George and Mitchell.

+1. (I feel the same way about another BH couple as well. Being Human is a great show, but imo it didn't do romance well. Besides George/Nina, anyway. They were pretty cute and believable.)

Still, agreed on it being one of the best scenes of the season. The George and Mitchell bits were painful but beautiful and incredibly well done.

Hal/Alex as the other couple? If so, ITA with you about them.

Yup! For a while I thought the show would just keep doing the 'will they or won't they thing', which I didn't love but could handle. The focus on them becoming a couple in the finale season was really cringe-worthy for me because it just didn't feel natural. (On top of that it felt rushed.) Maybe I'm biased because of my feelings about Annie/Mitchell, but all I could think was, "Not this again."

And despite my feelings about Annie/Mitchell, I find Hal/Alex to be much, much worse. Considering their past a romantic relationship between the two of them creeps me out.
mfirefly10: (Being Human OT3)

[personal profile] mfirefly10 2013-06-19 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Both relationships were unhealthy but I think Mitchell/Annie at least started from a healthier place and had a solid friendship before anything romantic happened. Whereas Hal/Alex started from a romantic place, quickly became awful and then just kinda kept on that way. It wasn't my cup of tea, to say the least but I'm in no position to judge Hal/Alex shippers, as they aren't that different from Mitchell/Annie in the unhealthy department. George/Nina had bits of unhealthiness, especially in series 2 but they became quite lovely by the end. But they are kind of the exception when it comes to this show :)

Whee! Just went and spoilered myself there. Not blaming the OP since I know it's been years but ugh. Stupid me. XD
mfirefly10: (Annie/Mitchell - love of my long life)

[personal profile] mfirefly10 2013-06-19 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Being Human!

That's the part that got to me the most, as well. A) Huge Annie/Mitchell fan (since the first series, really) and B) Unending disappointment that their relationship played out the way it did. I still love them and ship them, but I wish things had gone differently for them, even if I believe Mitchell's ending was absolutely perfect and the only real way to go for him at that point.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-19 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
+1 to all of this. I'll admit to being hooked since the 'whoops kiss'.

[personal profile] mfirefly10 2013-06-19 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Same here :)

Aidan and Lenora had fantastic chemistry and it added this underlying sexual/romantic tension to their scenes in the earlier seasons, which I'm not sure is what the writers were actually going for but there it is :)

I still cry every time I watch tbh.I've saved the first episode of season one and the last of season three and I watch them one after another.Nothing breaks my heart more than knowing Mitchell's journey.

I'm a big shipper of Annie/Mitchell,I thought their development was really well done, but yeah,it was a bit rushed.
