Things You Do When Bored

Everyone has normal time wasting habits (phone games, reading books, checking facebook), but what are some things you do?

I like checking out houses for sale in my area. I like looking at the houses, figuring out if I like them, and especially looking at the houses I will never be able to afford. Living vicariously baby!!!!

I also chew on my nails. I don't bite them. I just like to bend the nail with my teeth. Though this might be a habit I picked up from when I DID chew nails.

So what do you all do when bored?

I'm a guild officer in one of the games I play and we have separate ranks for people who are representing and people who aren't. I often find myself compulsively going through the list of members and promoting/demoting them based on whether or not they're representing. It makes more sense in context, but...that's my weird habit.

Well, at least aren't harassing people over it. I had an officer in a guild I used to be in that would actively harrass someone every five minutes over that - even if they were on an alt. Keywords are, of course, 'used to be'.

When I was a Guild Leader in WoW I would always change the names of the ranks to more hilarious (to me) names.

What's the logic behind different ranks for representing or not? Wouldn't you have to constantly (or often) be going in and changing ranks? Why bother?

For active or non-active, I could understand. And my guild has a separate rank for people who consider our guild their "main" guild and those who don't, but repping or not I just don't get.

Watching random animal videos on YT. Sometimes you can learn interesting things, for example how to remove a bot fly larvae from your body.

There are a couple channels I follow that have short science or Lists videos that I watch sometimes. Alltime10s is one.

Research stuff that may or may not vaguely come in handy for stuff I'm planning to write. Research random stuff just 'cause. Pace around the room/house.

I dunno, lots of stuff. And I actually don't get bored all that often. (I'm... Easily entertained.)

I occasionally space out and stare blankly at the wall while imagining fun stories.

I also love to check out houses for sale, not just in my area but in my siblings or friends' areas as well. Oddly fun! Plus, I just really like seeing the inside of other people's houses.

I used to crack my joints a lot but thankfully I've mostly stopped that habit.

I play neopets games and drawception (telephone pictionary).

I also kind of compulsively trim my nails. I like them really really short and if I feel like they're too long, they start to make me anxious until I trim them. I know this is weird. I carry a clipper on my keys in case it happens away from home- also great when someone you're with breaks a nail and then you are ~their savior~, haha.

I'm rarely bored, actually. I'm good company (to myself at least!)

Look up really expensive apartments/houses around the world. A $10 million dollar townhouse in London is more than beyond what I can afford, but they're just so damn beautiful. Also, adding more books to my Amazon wishlist.

Browse tumblr, check twitter, read fanfic, browse reddit, play video games, organize stuff (including computer files)... Also Netflix.

If I'm at home sometimes I'll start up Sims just to create people in CAS. I love to dress Sims and mess around with their makeup and all that jazz.

...check the time on my phone, watch fanvids on youtube.

When I was younger I chewed my nails too. Now that I wear nail polish I don't.

Watch cute animal videos on youtube(hell this happens even when I'm not bored, I just get sucked in by kitties), watch Ellen videos on youtube, paint my nails, check some of my facebook games, browse tumblr. I also have a habit of wandering around the house aimlessly only to end up back where I started.

The list of things I do to procrastinate/waste time is enormous.

I have a ton of blogs I follow on a more-or-less regular basis; my recent favorites (that update at least somewhat regularly) are Passive Aggressive Notes, Not Always Right (and it's affiliate Not Always Working), and IWSMT (basically a better 9gag - it gets a lot of its content from 9gag but there's less of it, and it's generally less of the shitty content and more good content, including less sexist).

I play video games, including several "oh I'll just play for 15 mins!!!~" games (you all know how that goes). I play YGO online. (I was basically addicted to that until very recently. Now I'm backing off a bit, at least for now.) I play FLASH GAMES. HOLY SHIT DO I LOVE FLASH GAMES. Also I play desktop games, especially Free Cell.

I also chit-chat with people, read the newspaper comics columns and puzzles section of the newspaper, and pet my dogs.

Browse forums, play Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing/Sims in short spurts, play with my cat or dog, read, scope Netflix, bother my friends and family, look at the sex ads on Craigslist and laugh at the really bizarre ones.

Browse tumblr, attempt to make gifs. Check my fandom's kink meme even though it gets more disheartening to read all the time. Write notes on a fic I'll never get around to writing as much as I want to/tell myself I will write.

I usually imagine situations in which various characters engage each other in incidents or conversations. Just yesterday I imagined for a while what would a conversation sound like between Garrus Vakarian (Because of yesterday's secret) and Remilia Scarlet (500+ vampire). What would they talk about? What topics do they share? What similarities and differences would they find in each other's world?

As you can see, sometimes I imagine these things too much.
