Favourite zombie media

Inspired by #11 today -- list some of your favourite zombie games, comics, movies, shows (is there more than TWD?), whatever.

Personally, I like Night of the Living Dead, Land of the Dead, the classic Resident Evil games, The Walking Dead (game and comic, TV show is awful) and the Left 4 Dead games (anyone wanna play on PC?)

Classic Resident Evil games have to be the best the genre has produced. Just so damn fantastic at the time for building atmosphere, and offering a unique gameplay experience.

And shamefully, I dig Highschool of the Dead (ridiculous fanservice anime) when it's not being basically a parody of itself.

Zombie book; Tricia Sullivan's Lightborn. It's about a zombie outbreak caused by Cybernetics Gone Wrong. The zombies essentially form a self-sustaining society, while the government covers it up and drops bombs on them.

I loved the 28 Days/28 Weeks films, and i remember my SO playing the original Resident Evil and omg, it was so creepy and horrible and awesome!!

I am a huge fan of the movies, 'cause i crush on Milla hard core, even though they're kind of stupid.

I really like the newer Dawn of the Dead movie. It's not perfect, but the beginning with that little girl is *so creepy* and the ending is, too, just panic and desperation as they realize the island isn't safe.... And the guy on the opposite roof that's starving..... Yeah, good times. :)

I love the Resident Evil films (I still have not watched the last one though) and Milla is basically one of the reasons to why I realised I am bisexual, good damn that woman is hot...

Yeah, I really like the Resident Evil movies but probably 90% of that is Milla Jovovich and how god-damned awesome she is.

City of Rott because it is hilarious. And I love 28 Days Later (even if it not a specific one).

But zombies terrify me. Like...more than anything else.

World War Z (The book. Everything I've heard about the movie makes me entirely sure I wouldn't like it, so I'm demurring on that score.)

I really like Mira Grant's Newsflesh book series, but the zombies aren't the main focus of the plot.

World War Z - the book, haven't seen the movie. Also, the audiobook is awesome, the cast is loaded with great performers.

The Left 4 Dead games are easily my favorite zombie games. I like Resident Evil, but not because of the zombies, so...yeah.

Romero zombies are the only zombies I've ever truly loved. And gawd, do I love them ♥ I do have a soft spot for the schlockier zombie fare of the '80s, too. Just because.

I'm also a fan of The Walking Dead - but just the show. I don't like the comics.

28 Days Later and Zombieland excell both at the genre, despite being polar opposites.

I want to read World War Z (there's a chapter in which they're in Isla Grande de Chiloé!), now I've seen the movie. The movie is not bad, either, keeps you wondering how the fuck they'll manage to survive the whole movie, and it's very entertaining (fast zombies! Fucking fast zombies!1!). But Brad Pitt's character's was so much of an overpowered Marty Stu it dampened my enjoyment of it a little bit.

Normally, I can't stand the typical flesh-eating zombie stuff, partially 'cause they terrify me and partially 'cause I just can't deal with gore in general. I did mostly enjoy the plot, humor and pathos of Shaun of the Dead, even though it gave me nightmares for ages. The only two zombie movies I've ever completely loved, though, are Fido and ParaNorman (though I'm not entirely sure the latter counts). I also enjoyed reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, stupid as it was.

I loved the movie "Fido" with Billy Connolly. Excellent film, very funny in parts.

(Shaun of the Dead, too, but that's been mentioned.)

Shaun of the Dead, Land of the Dead, RE movies for shit getting blown up and Milla Jovovich/Michelle Rodriguez/Oded Fehr (haven't played the games because I'm a straight up sissy and even Clocktower gave me heart palpitations, plus I have the hand-eye coordination of a drunk co-ed), Cockneys vs Zombies (which everyone and their mother should watch), 28 Days Later (mm... Cillian Murphy...), Warm Bodies (book and movie).

Hey, if you don't mind the hijack, does anyone know the name of the comedy film where the protagonists don't realize they're zombies? (And, uh, whether or not it sucked?)

I saw a trailer and thought it looked like an amusing way to waste an afternoon, but then I forgot about it until all the zombie talk tonight reminded me.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors, the SNES game, mostly because the sprites are still endearing to me. Also the adorable zombie variations from Plants vs. Zombies.

Also pretty fond of 28 Days/Weeks, L4D, Zombieland and TWD

Only media I've ever actually liked that heavily features zombies would be Vagrant Story. Zombies, eh. MEDIEVAL zombies being summoned/slain by hot dudes who don't know how to wear pants, WHY YES PLEASE.

Shaun of the Dead was... well, it was fun right up until all of a sudden it went from hilarious to really upsetting within about two minutes, and then pretty much stayed upsetting. :/ I think I'm just not cut out for zombies.

The original Romero trilogy is amazing, of course--my favorite of that lot is Day of the Dead.

But I think, more and more, that Return of the Living Dead is probably my favorite zombie movie. It so seamlessly moves between horror and comedy, and the effects are stunning even to this day. Plus the actors all do a good job in their respective parts--all of the parts are simple, but the actors did a great job in bringing those characters to life.

Return of the Living Dead 3 was pretty great too, but I haven't seen it in awhile.

(I like zombies so much that I'm writing my own shitty zombie story, hahahaha XD It's my pet project and I've been slaving away on it for five years now.)
