Most of the time I can't understand why they would have anything to do with each other, much less live together.

....um, really? You....you don't understand "why". Really.

You...you DO realize that families don't choose to live together, right? I mean, you DO understand that a family doesn't exactly have the option to all go their separate ways because they don't get along, right? You do get that kids can't just jump up and run away because they fight with their siblings, right? You do understand that parents can't throw their kids out into the night because they misbehave, right? Right?

Uh, of course they have the options to go their seperate ways. Divorce? Disownment? Breaking off all contact? Those are perfectly ordinary ways that adult family members leave.

And yes, kids CAN just run away from home and parents CAN kick their kids out of the house. It's not legal, but it happens ALL THE DAMN TIME. Go research as to why a lot of homeless people are teenagers, and why they'd rather be on the streets than go back home.

Honestly, you and the person below you are acting like families must stay together under penalty of death, or something.
