Reccing is not that big a deal.

Most recs are 1. in massive fandoms, 2. by BNFs and a bit circle-jerky, and 3. fairly bland stuff with the widest appeal possible, and/or whatever trope or kink is the flavor of the month.

There's a good chance it's not about your writing at all, and don't shove blame on to your beta or let it discourage you from writing. Most people never get recced regardless of skill, and all the fics I've loved weren't found through recs.

In my fandom, when something gets recced, 95% of the time it's lowest-common-denominator fare. Sounds to me like the OP may be writing nichefic. It could be the greatest fic in the world, too, but if she's writing something that's not gout du jour, expecting a rec is probably unrealistic.

The OP should just be glad she's got an enthusiastic beta who is also an appreciative reader.
