I suppose that makes sense. I was just angry at the OP for dismissing the idea of putting up with a difficult family life when those things aren't options at all for a lot of people and most fictional depictions don't portray conditions as being that extreme.

However, I don't see anything in the OP's comment saying "why doesn't anyone ever try to get out rather than putting up with them?" I only see "these people should all obviously try to magically escape their families because they don't get along". So while my comment was overly rude and I'm sorry for that, I don't see what part of the OP's comment was supposed to imply the former rather than the latter.
