Confront them about it. Don't drop them without doing this.

I'm going to go a little against the grain and say it's possible they don't know how hurtful they're being. Like my friends and I all constantly make fun of each other, but we have certain lines we aren't allowed to cross and we make that clear.

If they do want to just be assholes and don't want to be your friend, then confronting them about it will make it clear.
