Re: Why do so many women like anime

I'm gonna try and answer this question without being a cunt, which is apparently harder than it seems based on some of the replies.

People on the internet tend to be into geek culture, anime is a subgroup of geek culture, so a lot of places online tend to be devoted to anime.

Also a lot of places online seem to be heavily weighted towards one gender or another, like here, for example, I would say is a feminine community. 4chan, a masculine community. not meaning for this to sound as a hard and fast rule, just a general feeling.

Furthermore it is not out of the ordinary for fanfic communities (Yet another subgroup of geek culture, one that intersects with other groups such as anime) tend to be weighted towards more women than men.

Combine the above factors and it would appear that more women are into anime than men, but really, it's just a false reading based on a limited cross section.
