Oh, for fuck's sake. How about someone get a noose and hang this man because that's what the majority of the public wants. Or better yet, toss him in a big arena with some lions and make a sport of it. You could sell tickets. No one is self aware enough to realize how that they want to hunt down and kill this guy is exactly like what Zimmerman did. Just admit that you don't want justice, which, frankly, he went through the court system, it has been done, you want revenge. You want to say, "Fuck the law. Someone should die for this." Just admit it so we can move on.

I am so sick of hearing about this case or anything Zimmerman related.

You missed the point, I think. She implied that she thought Zimmerman was gay (the bolded part) and a rapist. People have been rioting/protesting for a few days now, trying to get this case into Federal court. If Martin attacked Zimmerman based on what he thought his sexual orientation is, then this does make the whole thing more clouded.

I don't give a flying fuck. It's over. Let's move on.

Oh, and no, I don't. I am actually extremely terrified about the rioting that happened last night in L.A. I watched a news helicopter livestream for hours last night. I saw a gang of youths jump and beat on a homeless man, I saw them vandalize cars, attack people, hold up traffic, light trash cans on fire. This issue is getting worse, and it was flamed by the media.

Martin Discharged a firearm during a fight when he was losing. His actions catalyzed the fight happening in the first place but he was pretty clearly defending himself even if you feel his defense was egregious.

People who talk of finding and killing him are talking of first degree murder, which is worse then the second degree murder he was on trial for and certainly above the voluntary manslaughter he probably should have gotten if flordia's laws weren't so fucked.

Justice was not served. He tracked down a kid, ignored the police, killed the kid and is off scott free. People are angry because there's NO JUSTICE. People want him to do his time for murdering a kid. NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND

He followed him while calling the police. He then LOST TRACK OF HIM, and got out of his car to look for a street sign to give to the dispatcher(This is all on the 911 call). He then headed BACK TO HIS TRUCK and that is when Trayvon showed up and jumped him. Trayvon had GOTTEN HOME, but doubled back to fight Zimmerman.

Talk about justice, fine, but at least use FACTS first.

I'm starting to think there is.

Then again, the US seems to have a cycle of X many years for rioting so...there have been people predicting that riots would happen [in the US] at some point in the next few years. -shrugs-

There was some rioting last night in L.A. Nothing large scale, just cars being attacked, some fires, some vandalism, attacked a Walmart, and whatnot. A camera man was hit with an object and had to be transferred to a hospital, and a group of young men jumped a homeless man. They marched down the streets for a few hours holding up traffic, too. The LAPD stated that they'd be arresting any protestors tonight who tried to block traffic/cause damage. They're being told to keep the protestors to the sidewalks only.

Here? Most the people aren't - they're either replying to the person who went 'SHUT UP ABOUT IT' [basically], or discussing the riots.

I'm sorry, if you're a kid who's being followed around by a grown man, and you're worried he's following you to rape you, then you are a homophobe?

Jeantel said that he was freaked out because men/boys who aren't "that way" would be creeped out seeing a man following the. And then goes onto talk about how Trayvon was worried about his little brother, implying that he was also a pedophile. He assumed he was gay, and therefore a rapist and a pedophile. How is this not homophobic?

I'm not sure that's homophobic, tbh. If it had been a 17 year old girl who was being followed, no one would have doubted the 'is he going to rape me' reasoning.

I still think it's stretch to go from cop to gay rapist, personally.

You mean the kid thinking the guy following him was a cop, then when he realized he wasn't thinking he was a rapist? I think if someone is following you around at night, you might want to entertain the idea that you might not be safe.

Seriously, if he'd been a girl, the assessment that "This man following me might try to rape me" would not have been an unreasonable fear. It doesn't mean that she believed all men are rapists, just like how it wouldn't mean martin thought that all gays are rapists.

In this hypothetical scenario, Zimmerman isn't being painted as a GAY rapist, he's a rapist. being a man afraid of being raped does not make you homophobic, anymore than being a woman being afraid of rape makes you a misandrist.

Tbh, what's being debated here is less about *Zimmerman* and more about what was being assumed [Namely the "Any guy who ~wasn't that way~ would assume a man following him was a rapist!" bit, and the implications of it.]

Also, even if he was, Martin probably wouldn't have known it at the time, and you know. That still doesn't excuse the Gay Panic excuse his mother is saying.

Zimmerman wasn't following him to 'rape' him. Jeantel and Martin made the leap that he was a gay rapist pedophile, and so that was his excuse to double back and jump him. Zimmerman assumed he was up to no good, as he was an unknown teenager walking slowly through the neighborhood. He didn't know at the time that Martin actually did break into houses (He had his bag searched after he was caught tagging, and the only contents inside of the bag were twelve pieces of jewelry and a flathead screwdriver) So, he made a leap as well.

It doesn't change the fact that it would appear now that Martin left his house to go back and jump Zimmerman because he thought he was gay. It's also majorly messed up that Jeantel thinks that all gay men would want to be raped, as only men who aren't ~that way~ would be worried.
