I used to think the same thing, but then I watched this video:

http://www.screwattack.com/shows/partners/game-overthinker/game-overthinker-episode-32-i-heart-bayonetta

It basically boils down to: Yes, Bayonetta is very sexual, but she is not sexual or submissive for you (the viewer), but simply because she wants to.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-17 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Because she want's to? She's a fictional creation of males. what 'she' wants is what the males who control her decide she wants. it can't get more submissive than that.

She exists for nothing more that the sick sexual pleasure of the male creators, and the male gamers and nothing more.

can't decide if...

(Anonymous) 2013-07-17 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
It's one thing to complain about half naked women with huge breasts in games running aroung just so their tits bounce, and a completly other thing to call someones pleasure "sick". You sound like the kind of person who calls every sexual thought someone has "sick", just because that person has a dick attached. If i'm allowed to fap over hot guys in video games, then men are allowed to stare at hot women. Equality is a two-way-street, and the answer is not less fanservice for men, but more fanservice for women. You wouldn't call a women who faps over some submissive boytoy sick, would you? I simply don't understand people like you. Wasn't the point of feminisn to be able to decide how we want to live our ways for ourselfes AND be able to do everything men are able and allowed to do? Well, i for one want to be able to stare at as much hot and half naked guys as i want, and i don't begrudge men for doing the same with women.

Troll. 99.99% of feminism has moved on from the 70s, and the rest is not at f!s.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-17 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you mean i'm a troll or the person i'm commenting to, because i wouldn't call myself a feminist? Honestly, the ones i met online drive me up the wall and the one i know in RL (yes, i know, i'm a social shut-in) is my aunt who's of the "women are better than men period" variaty. Online i have read enough realy hateful stuff, so i'm honestly not sure where i'm supossed to stand.

Sorry, don't know how to better explain it, i'm aware this sounds a bit choppy, i'm not an native english speaker.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Person responding to, sorry. I was on my phone and a bit distracted when replying.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ok, no problem.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Um, no.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
No? Most feminism doesn't pull that shit any more, and the only ones who do are either relics who lurk in their echo chambers, or first year uni students who do love ins on each others blogs and tumblr, before mellowing abruptly. The myth is much much larger than the reality. Trolly troll face here isn't behaving quite like an actual radfem.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)

ha, computers seem to have a mind of their own sometimes. :P

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I love you. Thank you. I mean it.

I'm in no position to make any content yet but I promise to give you lots of fanservice. I want to give fanservice to everyone. It's a lot more fun that way!

(Anonymous) 2013-07-17 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Technically all videogame characters exist for the sole pleasure of their creators and players.

Also, while you're probably trolling, I'll throw it out here anyway, but:

Women can choose to be sexual if they want, and it's okay. Would your ire be less severe if a woman created Bayonetta and she were highly-sexualized?

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
The irony is that the character designer was indeed a woman.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
what about the lesbians? I'm sure they like to see Bayonetta get all naked and twirly too.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm genuinely curious, because I've seen this response a number of times, as to why a lot of times when something is pointed out as male gazey and "patriachy!!", someone will say, "but what about lesbians?" I feel like they're two different things, but I'm not quite sure how.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Because that shit is not made for us, it's made for men. Us lesbians/bis can tell the difference, case in point, "lesbian" porn. We may or may not decide to enjoy the t&a but we can get uncomfortable too if it's objectifying in a yukky way. Depends on the queer.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
also lesbians can tell when men write lesbian fanfic. -.-

I may not be an expert on the matter (I'm straight), but I get really suspicious of fics where the lesbian action is basically from the POV of "All men are assholes so I'm gonna sleep with only women! Except [Male Hero], he's not an asshole." and eventuates with said male hero gaining a harem of girls who not only sleep with each other, but worship his cock as well.

(This is a very sarcastic description of a real fanfic, currently still being written. I tend to think it's a male writer writing out all his fantasies.)

(Anonymous) 2013-07-18 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly as a queer woman, I rather see female characters given the same respect, creativity and capabilities given to males characters than fanservice. I'd root for legitimately ugly female characters who can be awesome because it's some place creators and designers are afraid to go. Yet it adds diversity, and overall builds a better world for a story.
