Re: Your clothes and fandom
(Anonymous) 2013-07-23 12:31 am (UTC)(link)When I was about 13-15 I started dressing all in black because a book I was fond of featured a master thief dressed all in black. He was my favourite character. People kept thinking I was a goth or something and I never really corrected them because what could I have told them? "Nah, I'm not a goth, I just idolise cat burglars!".
But I still do this sometimes in a way very similar to what OP decribes. Of course I only do it if it's a style I actually like. For example: My fondness for uniform-styled clothing really works well with my obsession with some military themed Sci-Fi and Navy-related fandoms. But I also sometimes buy clothes (mostly accessories, though) only because I want to wear them as tributes to certain characters I really like. But it's not in a way anyone would notice except for me. But it's a lot of fun dressing for certain "character" or "fandom" themes.
