Spanish is my first language, and I find it utterly boring for fiction (fan or original).

Not to mention, the horrible dialogue format. Those ridiculous long lines, you never know where the dialogue ends. Quotes, on the other hand, are much easier on the eye.

However, I think the native speakers (of any language) tend to trust their grasp in their own language, and often don't correct themselves. But ESL people put an effort to be understood.
