Oww, that art style.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they mean Teen Titans Go. Because everyone seems to hate its art style.

I watched the show while I was visiting family, it honestly wasn't that bad.

I was never interested in Teen Titans but I sometimes have the Go show on in the background, and it cracks me up sometimes. I like the idea of seeing superheroes just hanging around arguing about whose day it is to do laundry and whatnot

Seems that most people are either a fan of one or the other but rarely both. Nothing to be sorry about. I prefer the older Teen Titans but my brother finds Go the best. Whatever floats your boat.

I like both, but a few things about Go really bug me. I find the art style pretty ugly and can't stand how they use the same sound effects for everything (like when Raven casts a spell). It took some getting used to, but I've stopped mentally comparing it to the original show and like it for what it is.

[Picture is a promotional image of the cartoon "Teen Titans Go!" and a screen-capture of the title screen of the cartoon "Teen Titans". Both feature the same five teenage superheroes, but "Go!" shows them in a more cartoonish, deformed style, eagerly jumping into action, while "Teen Titans" shows them in a slightly more realistic style, with all five standing dramatically. The characters are: "Beast Boy", a young male teenager with pointy ears, fangs and short hair, with green skin and hair. He is wearing a spandex black and pinkish purple uniform. Then is Starfire, a young female teenager with green eyes and green sclera, tanned skin and long red hair, wearing a purple and silver uniform consisting of a sleeveless blouse bearing her midriff, a short skirt and knee-high boots. Then is Robin, a young male teenager with light olive-skin, short spiky black hair, a mask covering his yes, green gloves almost reaching his elbows, green tight pants, a yellow cape, and a red, black and yellow shirt with short green sleeves. Then is Cyborg, a muscular male teenager with robotic body parts. Most of his face is dark, with a huge blue plate covering his left eye and most of his skull. He has no hair. The same robotic parts and suit cover the rest of his body, except for parts of his biceps. The suit is white, gray and blue. Finally is Raven, a young female teenager with very pale skin, a black leotard, small blue boots and a dark blue cloak covering her head, obscuring most of her face.]

I adore Teen Titans Go... but Teen Titans bores me. ...Sorry?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-07 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
You should be! >:(

Just kidding. I do miss Teen Titans, though. It had its out of place animesque moments, but I loved how it didn't shy away from dark moments and character development and actually had exciting plot arcs and stuff.

And it had some kickass action scenes, too.

I like them both. I think knowing the character's personalities and relationships from the first series makes the jokes in TTG funnier.

I watched the original show back when it was still airing. I liked it, but my favorite part was always when they would be goofing off in the tower. The new show basically took my favorite part of the old show and made a show about it. I can't stand to watch the old show anymore since the new one is so much more interesting to me.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-07 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Raven is reduced to "lol it's the voice of Twilight Sparkle", Cyborg is an asshole, Robin dumbed down and they've already died several times. One time they even got eaten. Another time they became literal ghosts.
How can you find that more interesting than the original? Funny, entertaining - ok. But interesting? Get out.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-07 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

I never said it was a better show. I said it was, "more interesting to me" which is highly subjective. And I think you're arguing semantics here because my definition of "interesting" includes entertaining.

You're right about the character development being better in the first show. Again, I never said it wasn't. I find the new show to be refreshing because it's unique to other superhero shows. Yeah, it doesn't have the deep characterizations, but it shows superheroes having fun and just being silly teenagers. It's not all about saving the world.

I was really exaggerating when I said I can't watch the old show anymore. It's just that I see it on Boomerang sometimes and forget that it's so serious. I feel like I really need to invest myself if I'm going to watch it while I can just mindlessly watch the new one for the entertainment value. That doesn't mean I don't still like the original show or recognize its merits. I just prefer the new show.

I don't mind GO!
I think it's pretty dumb but it's entertaining and that's why I watch it.

Since I loved the 'original' - what do you find boring about it?
I promise I won't start wank ;) I'm just curious because I thought it was always rather interesting and the characters endearing.

OP

It's not the kind of boring where I can point out what about the show I don't like - it's the kind of boring where I watched a couple of episodes but didn't feel any particular impulse to watch more. It is a good show, though. :)

It's also partly that I started watching Teen Titans because I ran out of Young Justice but most of the qualities I really liked in Young Justice are absent. Cause it's a totally different show and all.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-07 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
TTG is like Drawn Together without the racism and gross-out shit.
No wonder you like it better than the cartoon with character development and lots of dark and bittersweet parts. The latter needs more investment.

...you're welcome?

Just for the record: I like Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and I love love love Young Justice and all of those shows have character development and 'dark and bittersweet' parts. But Teen Titans didn't grip me. Go figure.
