After seeing the picture in your secret, I thought the secret was going to be "Maybe the comic industry is dying because it's sooo much easier to sit through a 2 hour movie of hot men and cool explosions than reading a 1848203 installment comic series"

*1848203 installment comic series of shitty, unoriginal writing

(not OP, I just welcome the death of "the comic industry")

Well, then you ought to welcome the death of the book, movie, television, and music industries, as well, because they're all in pretty much the same boat.

Makes sense to me :p.

Well... um... what are you looking for? I'd be glad to help if I can...

I'd like to be able to get into the Transformers comics to round out my fandom experience but wow I have no idea wtf's going on in that corner of the franchise. The only comic I have is Reign of Starscream, which I got more for referencing the art than anything.

Okay, this is second hand, I did a little asking around but the consensus (and if someone else has an answer, please lend a hand) is to start up with the Last Stand of the Wreckers arc and go from there. Apparently its one of the best stories in Tranformers comics in recent times... again, this is second hand so...

I wish I could be more help but... that's what I found out from some reliable sources. :)

Well, you could check for the trades or hardcovers. That would definitely save some time if they're out there. :)

and now for comics advice from someone who isn't even following the comics right now

[personal profile] riddian 2013-08-07 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Last Stand of the Wreckers is generally regarded as a really good standalone, I thought it was great and had some excellent characters. It was... five issues I think? they've released it as its own book and you might wanna pick that up.

The current series are More Than Meets The Eye and Robots in Disguise, which serve as a new starting point for TF comics. They're a continuation of past stuff, but knowing all about that past stuff is not necessary. They run concurrently and focus on different settings. All my friends shriek about robot feels from MTMTE when a new issue comes out (I have read it up to issue 15 and it is a great soap opera in space), RID seems to have less of a following but apparently is quite a decent read too. I'd recommend getting them both, there's about twenty issues by now and an annual... special thing, I forget.

Basically, there's a decent amount of new stuff right now, but not quite a metric fuckton, which you can jump right into. I hope this was helpful. :P
