Or maybe you can transform yourself and find ways to work with tumblr instead of resisting. It's helping a ton of new people enjoy fandom in new and easier ways--that's a GOOD thing and many people LOVE tumblr's way of fandom.

Easier does not equal good. And maybe some of us don't want to "transform ourselves" because there is nothing wrong with us, thank you. We like things you don't and don't like things you do. Amazingly, that's fine.

Demanding that other people transform themselves in order to suit your tastes is not much better than demanding that fandom not use tumblr.

I don't think AYRT was asking people to transform themselves in order to suit them, but rather that instead of complaining that things have changed and that you don't like it, try the new thing and try to work with it instead of fighting against it.

There are ways that Tumblr is good for fandom--maybe conversations the LJ/DW way isn't one of them--but it is excelent for sharing fanfic/fanart/fanvids/etc if you understand how best to go about it. (Understanding the tag system is key here.)

Sure, and I have a tumblr blog, and I use it regularly.

But this "fandom moved from LJ to Tumblr, and nothing of value was lost" attitude that lots of fans have is simply not warranted.

Everything good about tumblr is compromised by the most ridiculous interface I have ever seen. I don't have to resist tumblr to want to talk to people without either reblogging or sending a personal message.
