Re: Question for immigrants
(Anonymous) 2013-08-07 12:08 am (UTC)(link)But I love it here. Social norms are very different to my home country and they make more sense to me. It took some time to adjust to how some things are done, like the road systems, public transport, and shopping, but I think all those things are better than where I'm from.
I've applied for citizenship and was denied, but I think I would like it less here if I were a citizen because they have very high taxes and it's also really expensive to get a driver's license (I'm using one issued by my country that this country accepts). I would be allowed to buy a house finally but it's so expensive that I wouldn't be able to afford it because of all the money I'd have to pay for income tax would cut my salary in half.
I think the situation I'm in now is ideal and I don't want to change it. I plan to stay here as long as I am allowed.
Also, sorry for not saying the countries' names but it would give me away and I don't like people to know that I'm an ex-pat instead of an immigrant.
