I'm always amazed that people have rl friends that they share fandom spaces with.

I have a few tumblr followers that are f!s people and then a few other people that randomly followed me. I think it's 18 people now.

I'm always amazed that people have rl friends that they share fandom spaces with.

I used to be really shy about that stuff but now I'm like "whatever, everyone knows I'm a geek" so everyone sees my fanart. Sometimes when they mention something in reality I'm still like, "Wait, you saw that?"

I only get to live out my anonymous fandom days on fs! now. My livejournal is somewhat private but still has real life friends on there.

I'm not really shy about it, but I don't go around randomly mentioning I like to read fanfic or whatever. Fandom stuff is not often relevant to my rl conversations with anyone else other than my SO.

I'm actually surprised at the number of rl friends I have on tumblr. Like I have sixty followers and six of those are rl friends, which doesn't seem like a lot but it's still like, "damn, six?!"

Two of them are separate super geeks I've known for years. One's a fairly geeky roommate (would watch doctor who together). And three are a trio of band geeks who are hardcore into video games (and Homestuck) fandom even more than I am.

Idk, also tumblr's always seemed a lot less personal than other fandom spaces. Like you can reblog pretty gifs and pictures and yay. That counts as being active. Like, of those six, there are maybe... two? I'd feel comfortable with if they participated here or other LJ/DW comm and knew who I was.
