It's for men now, I'm afraid. Men don't like logic and reason, friendship, life lessons, feel-good stuff etc. Men like violence, action, and ass-kickery.

It's sad, but this is what happens when a paradigm shifts away from women and towards men. Sad but true.

Are you serious? I really can't tell these days.

The original MLP show had a good amount of action/adventure episodes, too- whether you like or dislike the tone, it's not a matter of 'girls like _____' vs 'men like ______'.

Men watched this show from the very first episodes. At least some of them clearly liked it the way it was.

i absolutely detest bronies, but /come on/, this is such weaksauce trolling
& 'violence, action, and ass-kickery' in mlp would actually be fun

What is this backwards universe you live in where My Little Pony contains violence and ass-kickery? Is it an alternate fanfiction dimension?

Question for MLP fans

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2013-08-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
This is on topic with MLP I hope, but my 9 year old niece loves the show. However, she sometimes goes searching for MLP and comes upon really gross brony stuff. Does anyone know some safe MLP sites with drawings and stuff? Or keywords I can blacklist?

Re: Question for MLP fans

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I am far from being 9 years old but I also would also greatly appreciate some worksafe recs

This isn't just bronies fault.

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-08-11 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Bronies aren't the ones that asked for pictures of Big Mac fucking Dr. Whoves. Looking at you tumblr!

http://www.equestriadaily.com/search/label/Art

Equestria daily's art stuff is pretty safe.

Seconding Equestria Daily, sadly.

Deviantart is a bit better than tumblr and just Google, in that they have filters/mature walls that require an account to pass, but you might want to do a trial run on their search engine and see if it seems all right.

The worst I remember seeing in deviantart just out in the open is stuff like "anthro pony with large boobs looking coy" kind of stuff, or some vaguely unsettling "pony is sucking a lolipop with half-closed eyes" or the sort of stuff that sometimes winds up Equestria Daily that is technically not porn or anything but why are they wearing stockings/socks and looking playful oh please stop

I think Derpibooru also hides mature stuff, but if your niece is the kind that would click the "show mature content" kind of button, don't let her go there. Also, I don't remember if the ads there are safe or not.

If you go looking on deviantart, you might have some luck with some of the bigger My Little Pony groups, like http://mlp-fim.deviantart.com/. Some have filters and restrict submissions to weed out the mature stuff.

You can also show her Slice of Life and Moonstuck on Tumblr. Egophiliac's art is super-cute, really funny, and for all ages!

MLP Arena has a nice subforum for artworks. But you need to create an account to be able to see pictures :)

An action show can't have good lessons? And last season had some good non-actiony episodes, like the camping episode, the last episode, and a few others.

It's not all action people. *rolls eyes*

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
ia
and who says women & girls don't love action, adventure & asskickery?
& afaik the showrunners find the bronies as creepy as we do, so i very much doubt they're targeting that demographic

[Picture is the cast of the cartoon "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". They are six colorful ponies posing for a picture on a grassy field with hills and mountains on the background. From left to right and top to bottom: Pinkie Pie, a pony with light blue eyes, a fluffy pink mane and tail and pastel pink coat. Rainbow Dash, a pegasus pony with with a rainbow colored mane and light blue coat and magenta eyes. Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn pony with a dark blue mane with a pink streak and a purple streak running in the middle, a pale violet coat and purple eyes. Rarity, a unicorn pony with a purple curled mane and tail, white coat and royal blue eyes. There is a picture of three blue diamonds on her hip. Applejack, a pony wearing a light brown cowboy hat, blonde mane and tail tied at the ends, light orange coat and a picture of three red apples on her hip. She has green eyes. And Fluttershy, a pony pegasus with pastel pink mane and tail, pastel yellow coat and turquoise eyes. Pinkie Pie is standing on her rear legs, holding herself up with a front leg on Rarity's head, who is sitting down and raising a front leg daintily. Rainbow Dash appears to be hovering, Twilight is sitting in the middle, Applejack is standing up and raising a front leg and Fluttershy is laying down in front of all.]

I miss when the show was all about good lessons. Now it's all adventure and action nonsense.

Fair enough. But for me, I grew up watching superhero cartoons as well as Disney movies, all about love and friendship and being yourself; both were nice, but it's also nice to have a combination of the two. And I don't think making MLP more action-y takes away from the lessons already learned.

To each their own, though.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
What are you talking about OP? If anything there was less action in season 3 then season 2. Not just the lesser amount of episodes , but other than the opener and magic duel every episode was a slice of life lesson some had a little conflict like the timberwolf but even season 1 had more monsters than all of season 3.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Going to agree with this, just because they don't write letters at the end of every episode anymore doesn't mean the lessons are gone. season 3 was pretty short on the adventure and action, and long on the slice-of-life stuff pretty much every episode had a moral lesson, hell they even did a bullying episode.

Then again from other comments here, I am suspecting this whole thing is a troll secret anyway.
