It's for men now, I'm afraid. Men don't like logic and reason, friendship, life lessons, feel-good stuff etc. Men like violence, action, and ass-kickery.

It's sad, but this is what happens when a paradigm shifts away from women and towards men. Sad but true.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you serious? I really can't tell these days.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I really am. They've total shifted the focus of this show away from girls to please the emotionally backwards 'bronies'. This is a sad, but sadly not unique, case

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
They are not 'men'. Male, maybe.

Hahhaha what

[personal profile] insanenoodlyguy 2013-08-11 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Why then are bronies more frustrated with the show then ever?

You really think Hasbro is trying to cater to us? Then where the fuck is Derpy in every episode? Why on earth did they make a tween anthro movie?

It's not us being targeted to. It's Hasbro trying to squeeze the moneymaker and make it like the 80's show: A toy vehicle.

Wait a minute... this is a troll isn't it? Oh you're good. 7/10

Why on earth did they make a tween anthro movie?

Um, do you really need us to answer this? So the rare non-furry element of the bronies has something to fap too. The certainly didn't uncanny valley anthropomorphize them for little girls.

Re: Hahhaha what

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when I heard about that movie I immediately thought of those creepy anthro ponies that pop up around the internet. :(

They certainly did. See: Bratz, Monster High.

I'm going to hope that's sarcasm, because otherwise you are sexist as FUCK.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
How is it sexist? Or are you saying the shift in the tone of the show is sexist?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

Re-read you're comment. you are actually saying that I am sexist.

In what way is complaining about the show targeting males sexist?

You an MRA or something?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You're stereotyping both men and women.

I am a woman, but that doesn't been I can't enjoy violence, action, and ass-kickery, dammit.

But, you're probably a troll, so.

Your complaint is based entirely on hideously reductionist gender stereotypes that you blithely report as accepted facts.

What the hell does sexist MEAN where you come from?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Power + Privilege + Unfounded hate. None of those things apply here.

The original MLP show had a good amount of action/adventure episodes, too- whether you like or dislike the tone, it's not a matter of 'girls like _____' vs 'men like ______'.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. Thank you.

There were soooo many action/adventure eps in G1. And because the eps were only 15 minutes in a half hour show, they would span an entire week at times.

Yep and the Bronies are the biggest haters of G1.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Men watched this show from the very first episodes. At least some of them clearly liked it the way it was.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-11 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
i absolutely detest bronies, but /come on/, this is such weaksauce trolling
& 'violence, action, and ass-kickery' in mlp would actually be fun

You know, there are some men who really liked the friendship stuff and stays away from violence.

Just so you know.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
na Yes, but do the show's creators realise that?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it may be more that they realize that young girls can actually handle G-rated magical action, which was part of what made the show so popular in the first place. You guys are giving bronies way too much credit wrt how much sway they have over Hasbro. They're glad to have a periphery demographic but the show is for little girls to make their parents buy them toys and always will be.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-12 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
What is this backwards universe you live in where My Little Pony contains violence and ass-kickery? Is it an alternate fanfiction dimension?
