Hmm. Depends on how it goes down, I'd say. They're both pretty physical - Hannibal vs Tobias was brutal, and Dexter's gone toe-to-toe with Doakes. Dexter cheats with sedatives, but Hannibal so far has been borderline supernatural in some of the things he does. In a straight-up confrontation, it could go either way.

In terms of stalking each other as prey, though, I think I'd put the money on Dexter. Dexter is used to hunting people who hunt other people, whereas Hannibal has been untouchable for a long time. His ego might trip him up.

Dexter's reaction to cannibalism made me sad as it made me realize that my ship of him and Hannibal could never happen.

Yes, this! Especially if they don't involve the last season of Dexter, which I haven't seen (though I've read a bit about it, so don't mind spoilers if they are necessary for awesome fic reading).

To those who say Dexter would try to kill Hannibal because Hannibal's a killer:

Dexter's "code" comes less from a sense of moral righteousness and more because he likes to kill and this is a more productive way of channeling his urges. And of course last season he threw his code out the window.

He's withheld from killing before (and it usually bites him in the ass) because "this killer UNDERSTANDS me" -- see Trinity and Hannah. The latter as she definitely fit his code but he didn't want to kill her because she gave him a boner. Chances are he would see Hannibal as being someone who "understands" him or as a kindred spirit.

And that's not even counting the novels, where he didn't kill his brother and has let him run around and do what he wants.

The constant excuse of him saying "this is the only person who accepts me for who I am/understands me" is very tiring. At least in the other seasons, all those characters he connected with had their own ways of how they dealt their relationship with him. Brian was the same only without rules, Lilah was obsessed with him, Miguel was proud, Trinity gave him the illusion that he could keep killing while having a family, and Lumen needed him to help her in her revenge.

With Hannah, there's only 'chemistry.' That's all there is to it, nothing else. It is the laziest, most terribly written reason ever for their connection.
